Ben Wade heads toward the counter to order a whiskey. He's in a damn good mood.

Will is too but he's got an ale and salutes the cowboy, not one of the ones he knows.

Ben tips his head toward the stranger.

Throws back his shot, orders another.

"Don't think I'll ever get tired of the drinks in this place."

"Oh aye, sir, ne'er known such quality or 'bundance. I'm Will Scarlett, pleasure to meet ye."

He moves over and offers a hand,

"Do ye mind me askin' the name o'the whiskey ye're drinkin'?"

Ben takes the proffered hand and gives it a firm shake.

"Ben Wade."

He lifts his second glass and shakes his head.

"Sure don't mind, son — Whyren's Reserve. Damn fine whiskey; highly recommended by a feller named Han Solo here."

"'ad it from some other folks 'ere but dinna think I know anyone o'that name. Where'bouts are ye from?"

"Some kinda pilot from the future. Crazy as hell."

A flash of a grin before he downs the whiskey.

"Arizona, 1865."

A beat.

"Southwest United States," he adds, just in case. "'Bout yourself?"

"Arizona, aye, know it, tis near New Mexico, I've a good friend 'ere named Doc Scurlock, 'e's from round that time. Nottingham, England, reign o'Richard the Lion'eart. Oh aye, pilots are almost 'alf as bad as outlaws."

"Met Doc last time I was here," he nods. "Ain't a bad shot."

He quirks a brow.

"Nottin'ham?"

His lips twitch at the outlaw remark, but he doesn't comment.

"Nay, 'e's na, taught me 'ow to shoot a gun. Aye, Nottingham, Sherwood Forest surrounds it."

Will just grins and drinks some more ale.

"You say 'Robin Hood,' I'm gonna need another drink."

A beat.

"And hafta get your next one."

"Seein' as I'm 'is squire, I'll buy the next round."

He taps on Bar and two whiskeys appear.

Ben grins.

"This place."

A chortle, then he lifts his glass and inclines his head toward Will.

"Oh aye, tis naught like Milliways."

She really has seen everything now.

She gets an easy smile.

"Howdy, miss."

A quick smile back as she puts her pen down (she'd been doing sums. Hyperspace still gives her a headache)

"Pryvet, comrade," she answers back, accent ever-so-obviously Russian.

The greeting and the accent earn a slight head-tilt.

"I should get you somethin' to drink, and you should tell me more about yourself."

"And if I get you a drink after, does the offer also work for you?"

"Maybe."

A grin.

"Guess we'll find out."

He places a palm flat against the hardwood and glances down.

"Miss Bar, would you give this lovely young woman whatever she'd like, and be sure'n put it to my tab?"

And lo, there was vodka (she really wasn't joking about the hyperspace), and she grins back.

"My name is Esfir."

"Esfir."

He likes those syllables on his tongue.

"Right pretty name. I'm guessin' you ain't from anywhere near where I just came in from."

"Not with that accent of yours. I am from...Well, it would be Russia in your time, I suspect. The Union of Soviet Socialist Republics in mine."

A pause, and an amused smile.

"Course, if you want my full name, it's a right mouthful."

"Russia," he echoes. "Well, now. Kinda far from Arizona."

He takes off his hat and puts it on the counter.

"Go right ahead, Miss Esfir. Think I can handle it."

"Lieutenant Esfir Shostakovna Yazycova."

"Esfir Shostakovna Yazycova."

A (somewhat smug) half-smile, then he quirks an eyebrow.

"Lieutenant?"

She doesn't look military, small and delicate as she is, but he'll suspend his disbelief in this place.
