Sunshine had a go at getting back into the habit of practice-fighting, earlier today. She had called up an animate earthen figure as a vampire stand-in - something to aim for, something to dodge. She had done this many times before, and yet, she hadn't lasted five minutes before she couldn't stand the feeling of the wet earth surrounding her hand when she plunged it into the figure's chest. It was too close to the real thing. Wet, cool, dead.

So theoretical learning is probably more her speed, today. Or, at least, learning that doesn't involve the real or remembered feeling of crushing someone's heart inside their chest.

So there is a baker sprawled out on the grass this afternoon, her back dappled by the leaf-shade of an old rambler rose, flipping through her Encantus to find something new to try. Infinitely botherable.

"Ah," she nods. Another normal. Or as normal as Milliways patrons get. "Sorry - I've got Milliways weirdness on the brain. Probably an after-effect of nearly getting eaten by a friend of mine while he was a jackal and I was a bird, and selling cinnamon rolls to a thunder-god in scrubs."

Milliways. Go figure.

"A thunder god??" Teja asks. "Did he do much thunder here? Where was he from?"

"He didn't seem to be in much of a thundering mood, to be honest," she says. "More woozy than thundery. He'd come in from a hospital on Earth - the doctors had taken his normal clothes, so he'd taken the scrubs. But... yeah. Apparently Thor is a fan of cinnamon rolls."

"Thor!" Teja says. "That is a god of my people, as is Weyland, in a way. But who would drag the mighty Thor into an Earth hospital against his will?"

"No idea who or how or why," she replies. "But he wasn't happy about it. I figured the least I could do was offer the guy the welcome speech and a cinnamon roll, and keep on his good side."

"He was actually surprisingly nice, but I'll still have to watch my mouth around him."

"How that?" Teja asks. "What would you say, or not say, to him?"

"Well, mainly I just need to keep in mind who I'd be talking to. 'Thor' is... slang, in my world."

Oh. A mighty hammer...

"What for?"

[sunbaked_baker]

"For.. something absurdly oversized and loud, which is supposed to be awe-inspiring and amazing but in reality ends up coming across as kind of ridiculous."

"It sounds much like the god of thunder that my people told tales of," Teja says, amused.

[sunbaked_baker]

"I know, right?" she grins at him. "That's how it got that meaning in my world, from the stories."

[ostro_goth]

"It must be odd, then," Teja says, "to meet the man himself, as it were, in this place."

"He wasn't what I expected, that's for sure," Rae replies. "Nicer, less drunk and boisterous."

Entirely too handsome.

"But still built like a brick shithouse, if you take my meaning."

"I do," Teja says. "Tall, broad, strong, and muscular."
