OOM & EP | Kate Barlow | Main Bar
[OOM:
This is not a game
It would be a crying shame
Honestly, what's in a name?
Tell me, what's in a name?
Kate's sitting at the Bar tonight, reading The Galveston News and sipping slowly at a bourbon. She should be heading out for her nightly chores in the stables soon, but first she's going to finish her paper and enjoy to the full the last lingering days of June.
Soon it'll be The Fourth, and her thoughts will be elsewhere.
Entirely botherable.
[ooc: Feel free to catch Kate outside if you prefer, either works for me. Open until her next EP. ^__^]

Handwavily set some time in the past few months. Kate makes a new friend, and gets a well-deserved tongue lashing. Warnings for brief coarse language.]

"Though, I was thinkin' 'bout takin' Beaut for a ride. Sky's clear tonight."

She doesn't often get the opportunity to see William ride.
"I jus' need a moment t'get Beaut saddled up."

She's pleased as punch. It's not the sort of thing she realizes in the thick of it, but it's been a long time since she's recreated with a friend. Other than Tommy, of course. But he's different.
It'll be good to relax.
And it doesn't take long at all before Beaut's tacked up and Kate's affairs are in order.
"How y'doin'?"

She leads Beaut out into the open air, still warm from daylight but with the first edges of a crisp evening breeze bleeding through. She swings up into the saddle, and smiles at William.
"Which trail d'you favor?"
no subject
He quickly mounts and starts to the lake path.

Which is to say that she misses it when she's not here, too.
She nudges Beaut into an easy walk, keeping the pace light to allow for conversation. For now, anyhow.
"S'strange bein' surrounded by water back home. S'different."

She smiles at him.
"S'beautiful. S'big. Bigger'n Austin."

Not to mention it's a good place to lay low and blend in, but she figures the former will be less distressing to him than the latter.

She's smiling, though. She'd rather have the heat than the cold.

She glances sidelong at William.
"D'you like t'go swimmin'?"

"Then if y'ever fancy swimmin' in the Gulf, knock on my door. I'd be happy t'have you out for a holiday."

A few things, like a certain stolen velocipede.
"Would y'fancy a race around the lake?"

"Will you, now? Well, then. On your mark, get — "
She doesn't finish that, as she's already spurring Beaut forward with a 'hyah!' Now, she never offered to race him fair and square.
(But she doesn't push Beaut as hard as she otherwise could.)
