Happy hour

[runningred]

Jay rocks up to the bar and is presented with a cupcake with a candle and a napkin.

“No, I didn’t forget. I was ignoring it. I don’t do birthdays” He grumbles, pinching the candle out.

A moment later, it’s replaced with a much larger cake and another napkin.

“Seriously!” He pulls the figurines off and tosses them (the Joker figure going straight in the fire).

Seeing no alternative, he grabs the specials board and starts writing, pouring himself a bourbon as he does.

Happy Hour
Come up with a name and I’ll invent a cocktail or mocktail to suit.
Also, cake.


Happy hour is on. Also, there might be a large knife hanging out of the cake.

When it's gotten rather late, Eric shows up. Straight from work, black dressed, and pale.

He walks over and leans on the counter, ignoring what's left of the cake.

[runningred]

"Evening, Eric." Jay gives him a little nod, toying with a lime and a very sharp knife. "How are things at Fangtasia?"

[onceaviking]

Eric shrugs.

"Business as usual. We're down a dancer though, so we will have audition soon."

[runningred]

"Do I want to ask what happened to them?" He asks, pulling a bottle of blood from one of the fridges and gesturing with it to see if Eric wants some.

[onceaviking]

Eric nods at the bottle.

"Just the usual. She had a bad attitude, so we had to let her go."

Or you know, she got furious when Eric didn't include her in his will and embezzled him.
So now she won't work anywhere in the States again.
Ever.

[runningred]

Jay nods and heats it up to the right temp before offering it to Eric. "I guess that must happen a lot. If bars didn't have such high turn over, it'd be harder to find transient work."

[onceaviking]

"We have decent health care, so the turn over is probably less than in other bars in the area, " Eric replies.

[runningred]

"And I guess the people who enjoy working at a vampire bar are going to stick to their jobs."

[onceaviking]

"There are - perks," Eric purrs.
One of them being the possibility of Eric's attention.

[runningred]

Jay chuckles. "Yeah, I'm sure there are. And I'm sure you and Pam are very good at inspiring staff loyalty."

[onceaviking]

"We like to believe that we do well in that area," Eric says, mock modestly.

[runningred]

Jay laughs warmly. "I bet you do. I'm sure there'll be a queue come time for auditions."

He picks up another one of the Gotham villain action figure and tosses it into the fire.

[onceaviking]

"We will probably have someone else take care of the first round," Eric says.
After last time.

His eyes follow the trajectory of the toy.

"Tidying up?"

[runningred]

"So you can do the final cull with possible casting couch?"

"Something like that." He follows Harley Quinn with the Penguin. "The cake included old enemies as action figures. Roasting them seemed like an appropriate reaction."

[onceaviking]

"Something like that. "
He looks at the cake.
"Cute. Have you been naughty or is it an affectionate thing and not a knuckle rap."

[runningred]

"The bar is trying to make a point. Mostly that I turned down the simple cupcake. I don't really do birthdays."

[onceaviking]

"Yeah, if they cook for you, you'd better eat it," Eric replies.

[runningred]

"And don't piss off the bar when she's being cute." Jay tips his glass in salute.

[onceaviking]

Eric takes a sip of his drink and looks around.

"Slow night?"
That's a shame.

[runningred]

"So far." He shrugs. "Are you in the mood for some action?" It's not a offer so much as an observation. So far.

[onceaviking]

The lack of actual offer is noted.
And ignored.

"Aren't I always? "
It's a purr.
Force of habit.

[runningred]

Jay chuckles and leans against the bar. "I've got a new suit. After my shift, we could give it a test run out in the forest?"

[onceaviking]

"We could do that."

He leans fully on the bar, wrists crossed.

"What's new about it?"

[runningred]

"New air exchange. New heat dispersion. An upgraded stealth system." He shrugs.

[onceaviking]

"Vampire repellants?"

He is leaning in now, smiling a little.
