There had been battle; and then, darkness descended.

A whirl of nightmare images, visions of doom, demons trying to devour his soul, and all the horrors from all the battlefield of his lifetime rushed at Teja.

He had been charging when the darkness fell, and he was charging still, now, his axe swinging around at the enemy, that had fled from him, so he would pursue him, even to...

... the middle of Milliways??

Teja stops, suddenly, in mid-swing, bringing his axe around so it would not hit the furnishings, a pillar, or another patron, but instead comes to rest on the floor, with barely more  than a mighty thud.

Teja stands, breathing heavily, fully armed, the fierce fire of battle still coursing wildly through his veins, looking around, trying calm his mind as his body realised that there was no more enemies to be fought.

What had just happened? Had he died again, in battle in that world, and been brought back to his afterlife through a demon-studded void?

Once everyone's all ready to go, notes are written, and things taken care of, Teddy, Teja, Bart, and Jenny all gather down in the main bar, ready to go.

"Everyone ready?" When they all nod, Teddy opens the door unto the sparsely-decorated, dark room that's 'his' in Nick Fury's safehouse. "After you," he says, gesturing for them to step into his world before closing the door behind him.

He can only hope that everything will turn out okay.

[OOM: We're counting on you.]

Teddy comes back through the door to the bar, eyebrows furrowed in concentration, looking for the people he needs. He's not sure what time it is in the bar, but he can wait as long as he needs to gather up the plans for the Baxter Building, as well as Jay, Jenny, and Teja.

He sits down on a bar stool, and gets something to read and to drink--a random sci-fi book as well and a mug of coffee. Teddy starts in, glancing up from the book every few seconds. He's trying not to look anxious, but he really is. He needs this to get going, and soon. But a distraction is still welcome to get him to calm the hell down.

Prisoners, once a day, every day, are taken outside for thirty minutes. It's sort of like recess. Billy spends most of it staring upward at the orange not-sky and trying to ignore everyone else.

Unfortunately for Billy, he's considered a 'high risk' prisoner. The upside of this is that there's a metal restraint around his neck and the lower part of his face, and his hands clamped behind his back.

When he walks back through his cell door, he's expecting the 8x8 box he's spent the last few days in, and not, well, the bar.

He stands, stunned, in the doorway before slamming the door hard with his foot.

[OOM: When we were young
And hit like hammers
I'd write the nails in your hands
When 99% of us is failure
There's no coming back

And I know it's real slow, honey
Painful and real slow

Blackbird come the break of day
You swallow the shit that people say
Walk outside, look at the sky
Ask it to fall or tell you why

The Teddy Altman that enters Milliways is perhaps not the Teddy the Bar knows so well. He's still tense and worried sick, even after the talk with Cap and the shower, and he hasn't seen Billy in days. In fact, the photo of Billy in his hand hasn't left his side since he got back to the base. Teddy's voice and eyes are back to normal, and he's human-shaped again, but that can't change the inside.

When Teddy looks up from some private memory, he realizes he's not, in fact, in the base at all. He's back in Milliways, and--

"...dammit." He can't deal with people, not right now--he needs to talk to someone eventually, but... Teddy opts for grabbing a sandwich and something to drink and then curling up into a corner booth. This way he can see people enter, while still giving him time to decide on whether he wants to talk or not.

(Of course, it's all a lie. It's just an excuse to watch the door, in bitter, wasted hope, for that familiar mop of black hair. But Teddy would never admit it.)

Warnings for heavy angst and tear-jerker moments. The awesome kind.

[OOMs: Piotr has a dream.

Two days ago, Piotr went to visit a certain space pirate. Where he also saw River.

Then, the Civil War ended.]

The front door is kicked open and Colossus strides in with Kitty Pryde in his arms. She is squirming still and bloodied.

Simon. Someone from Serenity. Where would one of them be? He needs the door opened again.

[OOC: This post is plotlocked! People are welcome to react, but neither Piotr nor Kitty are going to react to them. Some OOM threads are still ongoing. Thank you, guys!]

Wandering about, near the lake, thinking, Nathan was avoiding heading back. He had to go back to Earth soon, and be ready for what he knew was coming. The war was coming to a head, to what would likely be the last battle, of this phase of it, anyway. He would do that, and be ready, and join Cap very soon.

Today, he had spent thinking.

Well, not just thinking. He had spent an hour or so on a make shift artillery range testing out some new ordinance, and had cleaned up afterward, using his powers for creation and rebuilding, rather than destruction. That? That felt nice.

But now, he was done and walking, wandering near the lake, and sometimes onto the lake, ignoring gravity and gravity ignoring him with equal amounts of enthusiasm.

He is reading reports, and frowning. Things are getting bad and out of his reach back home. He has helped as much as he can, and soon... well, this doesn't look good.

So, he is reading reports, back in he Bar after a honeymoon, a mission or two, and a brief sojourn to other worlds.

It's been a long few weeks and he is very appreciative of the very good beer that Bar is serving today.

Sometimes, moments are what changes everything. Sometimes, upon a single moment hinges the entire fate of a people.

Sometimes, Fate has a real sense of humor... or Destiny... one someone.

Because on one of those moments, somewhere, Hank McCoy stumbles, and starts to fall.

And hits the ground, not where he was, but in the bar.

With no door.

There is much cursing in Shi'ar, Badoon, Mojon, and a few other languages, as the black costumed X-Man stares at the blank wall.

Today has really not been a good day for Hank McCoy and it doesn't look like it has gotten any better.
