Entrance Post
[Pre-Milliways]
The door opens into a brightly lit space. Tristran Thorn is almost hesitant to take a step forward in case he ends up falling to his peril instead of finding his feet on firm ground. But he does it anyway because curiousity gets the better of him. The door closes behind him in a mysterious sort of way. He turns briefly to look over his shoulder, then his attention is brought back to the main room.
The warm chunk of wax in his hand is momentarily forgotten; all the young man in strange crimson and canary and russet cloth has on his mind is, where am I?, what is this place? and did the candle really bring me here?
He looks around and is very confused, but he has to admit, once his heart has resumed a more regular beat, that the atmosphere is rather pleasant, really.
Though it doesn't keep him from standing stock-still in his spot, looking rather out-of-place and foolish.

"Hello, are you lost?"
no subject
"I--I believe so," he begins, clearing his throat. He turns to the man. "Yes...I don't suppose this is part of Faerie, is it?" He gestures to the room.

He raises the chunk of wax in his hand to his face. Then he tucks it away into his bag. "Is this a...popular location?" he asks a little randomly.
no subject
He extends a hand. "Dr Guppy Sandhu, nice to meet you."
no subject
Tristran walks forward and takes Guppy's hand. "I'm Tristran Thorn," he replies, feeling it okay to tell him his name. "It's nice to meet you, too."
no subject
"Did you say you're from Faerie? I've not heard of any others from there here."
no subject
He suddenly feels thirsty. "Did you say that the first drink is on the house?"

"There you go. While I remember, three rules in this place. No outside business. No nudity. No violence."
no subject
He nods as he listens to Guppy speak. "I'll remember that," he says. Then he frowns as several questions suddenly begin to appear in his mind like blinking lights. "So do people...regularly come here? How exactly do you find this place again once you leave?"

He smiles. "Quite far from your home I think."

Immediately his mind associates the queen's name to Victoria Forester, whom he had gone on this confounded quest for in the first place.
He clumsily takes a small gulp of his shandy and begins to choke, coughing embarassedly.
no subject
"Ah, not so different then. A little before my time I think."
no subject
"Sorry about that..." he begins, clearing his throat. "It's just I was suddenly reminded of why I'm so far from my home in the first place." He closes his eyes for a moment then opens them. "You're not on a quest of your own, are you?"
no subject
"No problem. Can't have you choking."
He shakes his head. "Not as such. Unless you count life in general. A quest to heal, to learn." To recover
"What is your quest?"
no subject
But he stops and shakes his head. "Unfortunately, I'm not sure how I'm going to get to it now that my candle's gone out."
He twists around in his seat to gain access to the bag that had been draped over his shoulder and reaches in to grab the familiar mound of wax. He pulls it out and shows Guppy. The little blackened wick is barely even there.

"That's the universe ending." he adds. "It resets every half hour or so."

He gets some matches from Bar. "Now let's see about this candle of yours."

"I bid you welcome, good sir. Might you require any assistance?"

"Hullo," he says.

"This place can be quite the shock to many new arrivals, but I've no doubt a capable gentleman such as yourself will catch on quickly. . ."

"This bar...I suppose since everyone comes from a different world, they would have different sorts of currency..." He reaches into his bag and brings out a couple of shiny gold coins, some of his savings from working as a shop-clerk. "Would they accept this if I were to buy another drink?"
no subject
"Most certainly. I believe that they will accept any currency you have to offer."
[OOC: Sorry for the slowness! Connection issues.]

"That's good to know," Tristran remarks, letting one of the gold coins lie flat on the table surface. He goes about ordering another of the same drink.
"So, if I may be so bold, what world is it that you come from?" the young man asks. Being here is beginning to work wonders for his confidence level.
