Wells is not the only werewolf advocating endurance drills today.

Of course, Ace is not saying anything of the sort, as she enjoys the spring sunshine out by the lake, throwing sticks for her Doberman.

For the record, Magic, up until now, has been having a very boring day. It's about time mum came out to play.

Mallory is wearing her fencing gear, and finishing up shadow fencing when she spots the woman with the dog. The dog looks familiar, but the woman is a stranger.

She walks over, looking around for Spoon, but not seeing him.

"Hello. Is that dog named Magic?"

It could be a different dog, after all.

There aren't many reasons strangers would know Magic's name. So perhaps Ace's assumption isn't as slanderous as it first sounds.

"Hullo. Yeah, this is Magic. If she's eaten y'supper at some point, m'sorry, I'll front y'another." Magic does her best to look aggrieved as she wanders over to investigate Mallory, the stick still in her mouth.

Streaking gray fluff balls zoom to double-team the Doberman. It's one of their favorite games. If Stepan cuts her off, Rasia can get the stick!

Spoon follows the fluff out of the bar soon enough, but his nose is stuck in a book (http://www.amazon.com/Illustrated-Kama-Sutra-Ananga-Ranga-Perfumed/dp/0892814411). "Hallo, luv."

Mallory laughs.

"No, she hasn't done that, yet. I met her they other day, only she was looking over a man named Spoon. I freaked him out a bit--by accident--and I was going to see if he was doing all right. I thought if Magic was here, he might be, too."

The puppies are still jumpable. They'll need to get taller before they can cut off Magic so easily! Which, of course, she proceeds to inform them.

"Hullo, Spoon. Found some other means of entertainment already?" She teases, cheerfully. If she had any doubts about him wanting to be with her, they had no hope of surviving this morning.

He snorts, and turns the book around. "I think we should work on this (http://kamasutrafree.stores.yahoo.net/posofwifofin.html) one." Spoon informs his girl, reaching his free arm out to tuck her up under his chin, "And this (http://kamasutrafree.stores.yahoo.net/posofgoatand.html). Think I want t' do that one a lot."

"He was, just a bit ago. Might be back by now - he went back t'Yorkshire, t'take care of the goats. But he's doin' fine, though I'd imagine he'd be happy t'hear y'ask." She explains, happily, and not in the least bit threatened. She does learn a few things, after repetition.

Ace studies the pictures thoughtfully. The first looks a tiny bit awkward, but anything once, right?

"Beginnin' t'think y'spendin' too much time with the Billy." She notes, dryly, leaning back against him comfortably, pointing out the name of the second illustration. "Though I really can't connect the title to the technique."

"Don't look at me." Spoon informs her, "Fuckin' looking at the pictures, half the words don't fuckin' make sense. Sommat about goats?"

"Oh, yeah, he mentioned the goats."

She reaches out see if Magic would like to sniff it, and maybe remember her.

"I didn't realize, and I mentioned silver. It's kind of been eating at me, and I thought I'd check up. I'm glad he's doing well. I'll be sure to keep an eye out for him."

"The Goat and the Tree." Ace reads, then tilts her head, seeing if the two connect better if viewed from a different angle. "No, I'm just not seein' it."

"Never seen a goat get banged by a tree." Spoon agrees, tilting his head along with hers, "Got some others marked, too." Little colored squares poke out here and there, "Figured you'd want a look. Don't want you to get bored with me."

She tilts her head up to give him a very wry look.

"Somehow I very much doubt that'd be a problem." It has, after all, been a very unboring morning.

"And I plan on making that doubt a certainty." Spoon informs her, moving his fag so that he can kiss her neck, "So I'm doing me research."

Magic stretches out her nose to sniff, then offers a quick lick before shoving her hand under Mallory's for skritching.

"Don't worry, he doesn't expect folk t'figure it out all at once. S'a lot t'learn an' remember if y'don't deal with it all the time."

"I appreciate the effort then. Should I offer pop quizzes?" She asks with a laugh. This is the girl who spent fifty years in a school. She knows all about studying.

Mallory obligingly skitches Magic with a smile.

"She's a great dog. Very protective of Spoon. I'm Mallory, by the way."

...Spoon's brain just flashed to him being jumped by a naked Ace while working with the trees, or walking in the woods, or wandering past the library at home. His hand on her stomach pulls her tighter against himself (hi, Ace, he is happy to see you), "Yes, luv. I think that's a good idea. A very good idea."

"Brilliant. Best y'study hard then. I am a very strict teacher." She informs him, nuzzling against his chest.

"Ver' ver' hard." Spoon agrees, nuzzling her hair in return. His fag is held out to the side while he does so, "Oh, yes. Hard. Hallo, luv, you're bloody distracting."

Ace laughs, terribly pleased with herself. It's more than a little flattering, Seeing how fast she can rouse him. With a quick twist she slips away, dancing out of immediate reach and grinning teasingly back at him.

"Now now. I was promised an hour lunch. Still have ten minutes, don't I?"

"M'Ace. Are y'new here then? Don't think I've seen y'about before." Not too new, obviously, she's met Spoon, but that only gives her a couple months.

He rumbles with pleasure at her and over elaborately checks his (right) wrist. It doesn't have a watch (he can't wear them without panic attacks), but he's pretending he's got one one, "Guess you do, at that. What d' you plan on doing for those ten minutes?"

"It's been a couple of months, I think. This place makes it hard to tell. I've got a job out here in the gardens to earn my keep until the door shows back up. You?"

Ace frowns thoughtfully, evidently considering this very important question.

"Well. Suppose I could play with the pups," (who are busy in a three-way tug of war with the stick) "Ooooor... I could just utterly abuse the advantage."
