Wells jerks his thumb at Spoon. "My boy here," he says, "made friends with a creature I've never seen before, a sort of alien from some other planet. Bugger if I know where. The two of 'em went to go and retrieve some of her things from where she'd left 'em in her world, and due to one thing and another, Spooney ran across a different sort of alien that had acid for blood. Managed to kill it all by his lonesome, too, and him with no weapons. That's what got him melted in places."

He almost says he brought back the head if you want a look, but he's not quite suicidal.
