"I can show you later, if I see them here. It's-"

He scowls and looks away.

"Sometimes it's very easy to slip into bad habits. It bothers me when I do so."

Draco blinked at that, "You too still? I thought it was out of your system?" A touch of snark to the tone. Just since he's been told to get it out of his own.

"I doubt it will ever be all the way. I made a huge mistake earlier this week. This Deitmar fellow comes from a world in which scientists perform gruesome experiments upon humans. They transfigure them, somehow, into horrific creatures. He and a younger associate are virtually trapped there by their involvement. Since he's been here, he's been attacked by a Legilimens, but not one of our world. I offered Occlumency lessons, knowing he was a Muggle, but figuring it couldn't hurt. So during our last lesson, I pushed too hard out of curiosity and I did just the same as his first attacker. I feel bloody awful about it."

Draco shrugged, "But it was an accident, or did he get all upset over it?"

"He tried to kill me with one of those Muggle guns in response. I handled it, of course, but that extreme a reaction was not something I'd expected."

Draco grimaced at that, remembering Ramon. "Ugly sort of things, if efficient. You did try at least, he should be thankful for that much."

"You'd think. I don't reckon he's quite right, if you understand my meaning. He needs aid, and as a result of my stupidity, I felt the need to offer mine. I'm to join in on a raid of his facility."

He might be regretting the offer to play assassin just a little.

"Would our magic even work there? And no, he doesn't sound right at all."

Draco then wondered, "And who's this Sylar bloke?"

"Shite, I hadn't thought that far along. I bloody well hope our magic works there. It tends to work well enough, most places. In one place, it was even amplified."

He sighs and takes a drink of scotch.

"Sylar is a powerful- well, not a magic user. Or so he claims, as does a bloke from his world. He has powers though. He and I dueled out back. I thought I'd make short work of him, but he was a good match. I think he's a very cruel man, Draco, and one to watch. He reminds me very much of myself at a younger age."

"Amplified?" Draco straightened up with interest, "Where was that?"

But he became more grave at the description of Sylar.

"You think he might try to be a Dark Lord for his world, or similiar?" He wondered with a hint of worry and fear.

"I don't know, but I shouldn't be surprised. If he's my match, he certainly could be. But my point in the telling is more that I was just as cruel back to him. Taunting. Falling into my bullying role again."

He sighs, and decides to change the subject somewhat.

"On Pylea, Arithon's world, I had to whisper my spell commands and hold back or I'd blow things to hell and back without meaning to."

Draco started to comment on that, but then he became more interested in hearing about the world.

Very interested considering the grin of 'ooh cool' that was across his face at the idea of such magical power, "Really? Is it still accessible?"

You know he's going to want to suggest field trip, too. Won't he be disappointed when he finds out otherwise.

"No. Arithon is the only person I know from there, and he's not around anymore. It was quite the place though. I felt like I was tiptoeing on eggshells the whole time."

Awww, you made the wizard all pouty.

"Still, all that power. It sounds brilliant." Draco being all wistful in his powerlust.

"It isn't when you have little control over it. Mostly you just feel like a buffoon stumbling about with a wand."

"Oh. Bugger. Not much point then."

"Exactly. Power's only worth it when you're in control of it. That's the mistake the other me made."

Draco nodded, "Starting to see that."

He shakes his head.

"It's always a matter of keeping the balance. Sometimes you just- can't. But I reckon the trick is to clamor back to that balancing place again."

"Sounds very sensible. Our world has too many extremes as it is." The Order, the Death Eaters, neither seemed that wise to join.

"Shades of grey." He passes a hand over his eyes again, but he chuckles softly as he does. "I've come so very far in three years. But it's still a journey."

"Exactly," Draco agreed, and then commented, "I probably wouldn't even recognize myself from when I first came here."

"I'd say from the way you're carrying on, you're still very much the Slytherin," he teases.

"I met Mia, by the way. She's a lovely girl."

Draco smirked back, "So are you. Master Salazar would certainly still think of us as ones."

There was an unusual, well unusual for Draco that is, smile on his face, "Oh? She really is beautiful isn't she? How did it go? Did she say anything?"

Totally smitten and in love with the girl, yep. He's got it baaaad.

"She reminded me a great deal of Door. She's a fine young lady."

He sips the scotch and regards Draco gravely. "I fear I might have to hex you horribly if you break her heart. You are thinking ahead, yes? I know I advised you to sow your oats, but not at the expense of a girl who obviously cares for you so."
