At some point (before being kidnapped to Morocco? After being kidnapped to Morocco? Millitime: it's Millitimey!), there is a Sam.

This particular Sam is lazing on a sofa being elegantly not-elegant and looking, as per usual, as if his legs are rather too long for the rest of him. He's playing with magic, and has a small purring tortoiseshell feline curled up on his chest, who would probably prefer his comfy Samcushion not be bothered.

The comfy Samcushion, on the other hand, positively encourages bothering.

It's April 18 for Knox. That means spring has arrived in Gotham. Which explains why his hat and coat and shoes and slacks are drenched when he enters. He dispenses with all but the slacks before getting a hot coffee.

At least, he thinks, it's not snowing. Come say hi.

It is COLD outside.

And WET.

And there are LUMPS OF GRAYISH STUFF lying around that used to be WHITE STUFF and are now just COLD AND WET AND WEIRD.

Ellen is not really sure how to respond to that. The closest she's ever seen to slush has been the contents of a Vault walk-in freezer when there's been a malfunction, and the coldest she's ever been has been during the moments when she's had to go into said walk-in to grab something for mass food preparation. Winter thaws are very, very strange, and she is not at all sure she likes them.

On the other hand, she's got to test that mole rat stick for Moira, and there are things in the Wasteland other than mole rats. She'd like to be able to deal with them effectively so that she doesn't wind up dead before ever getting to look for her father in earnest. The repellent stick won't do her much good against more men from Talon Company, assuming there are more of them, so the way she sees it, she's going to need a quick-draw weapon- and she's found one that's better than her silenced pistol. It's just that she's never used it very much before, so...

So there is a young woman in a Vault 101 jumpsuit (her body armor does very little to keep her arms warm) out at the target range, doing her level best to ignore the fact that she is OUTSIDE and COLD and SURROUNDED BY COMPLETELY WEIRD STUFF as she practices with her newly-acquired laser pistol. She's pretty good at it, as long as she doesn't start thinking about being, y'know, outside.

Yuuno comes down to the bar from his room today with a mission and a desire for breakfast.

"Bar, could I have a basic guide to the history of Ellen Park's world? America in particular please. Oh, and some noodles and a soda."

Items in hand Yuuno heads over to a table and sets up shop.

Feel free to point out that the soda is going flat and warm, while the noodles get cold. He's just staring at the history book.

OOC: Open while it's on the front folks, slowtimes welcome and likely for work.

Parker is at the bar, writing longhand on pale green stationary.

Grandma Lee actually does own a computer. She has even made tentative forays into the Land of the Internet (mostly for things like weather reports and movie listings). But she is very stubborn when it comes to email. She prefers real letters.

And Parker sees no harm in obliging.

In fact, she’s grinning as she describes last weekend’s bowling adventure. Who knew Seth would be that bad at it?

Clearly Parker will have to teach him a thing or two.

Nejaa currently looks as un-jedish as possible. His lightsaber is well hidden and he is wearing the familar clothing of a CorSec member (for the moment we will ignore the fact he really is not a part of that organization, just firmly allied therein.). He has a book.

He also looks completly botherable.

Fi slides into her usual place, at the extreme far end of the bar, next to the wall, where she can see the faces of the crowd.  She looks like hell.  Her hair is pulled back and her cheeks are drawn, her normally healthy complexion thin and wan.  She orders a tall water and drinks it in one go.

A full bottle of Irish whiskey appears on the bar next to a single glass.  She stares at it for a long moment, and then pulls the bottle close.  It seems to take too much effort to uncork it, but she does.  She fills the glass with three fingers of whiskey and takes a long sip.  Half the glass is gone when she puts it down. That done, she leans over the glass, drinking in the fumes.

Operation Numb, Phase I commenced.

She takes the bottle and the glass and heads for the back door, bent on finding a quiet spot on the beach for some stargazing.

(ooc: mun reserves the right to call periodic slowtime due to epic character bleed.)

Mallory comes into Milliways looking like, well...crap. She has a blanket wrapped around her shoulders, and the sweat pants and tee shirt she's wearing should have been consigned to the rag bag at least a year ago. There's a white powdery substance on her hair, and a scowl on her face.

Looking at no one, she heads for the first booth and curls up on the seat.

"Ugh."

Approach with caution; she doesn't look happy.

Mary stomps into Milliways and over to the bar in something of a huff.

People cannot just fall asleep in her flower beds whenever they feel like it! That is why Milliways has rooms.

"I should like writing materials," she announces to the Bar, loudly, and holds out an imperious hand; a piece of paper and a box of Crayons appears.

Mary scowls at this - crayons are not dignified - and says, "A pen. Please."

After a beat, the pen appears (manners are important!) and the set is carried off to a table, where Mary bends over it and starts to write out a sign.

Barty is staring at the Observation Window today.

He doesn't like it.

He's not sure why, either. He's seen pictures of the planets, and he finds them fascinating (one day science fiction will be his favorite genre of book). But something about what's going on outside the window makes him feel...sad, for lack of a better term.

So there's a toddler standing in front of the window, alternatively staring with a thoughtful little frown and clenching his eyes shut as though trying to feel instead of see.

By all means, come distract him.

Is it possible to have a kitten look sad? How about lonely? Or is that just beyond the realm of possiblity?

Well, beyond that. There is a small black kitten in the bar, who is not bouncing and pouncing. Rather, she seems to be sighing just slightly.

Maybe she could use some love?

[ooc: Scrap loves all attention, but if you have a pup able to talk to animals, or another animal pup she'd love to meet you.]

Hodgins is rebelling.

Quietly. But rebelling nonetheless.

He’s supposed to be filling out his first half-ton of reports as part of the review process that’s been dumped on the Medico-Legal lab. But Hodgins doesn’t care for humoring officious little bureaucrats even at the best of times.

And this is far from the best of times.

Besides, he has more important things to do.

There are a number of legal pads laid out on Hodgins’s table, each one a detailed To Do list in progress. Each pad has a heading in black marker: “Zach.” “Divorce.” “Gravedigger.” “Annoy Investigators—Subtly.” Among others. He’ll jot notes on one for a bit, then set it aside and take up another. And then another.

Things to do. Things to fix. Got to have a game plan.

Guppy has discovered New Muscles.

Well, he knows technically they were always there, it's just that he hasn't until now been using them to lug around large bags of what are basically rocks. And therefore has the achey stiffness associated with unusual heavy exercise without warming up or down.

Rather than doing the sensible thing (asking his physiotherapist wife for advice), he came into the bar, ran diagnostics to check he hadn't actually pulled anything, and is now lying flat on a sofa, casually doing the crossword in his paper, trying not to give away how embarrassingly unfit he is.

Adrian enters, covered from head to feet in dried mud. Not a warzone, just rugby.

He was expecting a shower, but instead finds the bar. Probably just as well; he wants to make sure that Barry Kent is well clear of the changing rooms before he goes in there. Adrian doesn't fancy any repeat experiences of the bigger boy treading on his head.

He goes upstairs for his shower, then comes back looking more presentable and asks the bar for a Mars bar.

"Barry Kent's gonna do me if I don't give him twenty five pence a day protection money." he explains. "So I can't get one at home."

He gets two mars bars, and thanks Bar before opening one.

When the door opens next, two familiar figures walk through. They aren't exactly surprised to see the bar, having been here plenty of times before. (And a stable door doesn't hurt either.)

Ned has his hands tucked into the pockets of his trousers, head bent a little as he follows Chuck - always keeping a distance.

As they move towards a nearby empty table, Ned says kindly: "It's not your fault, you know."
