Edgar is outside using one of the trees as target practice for his kukri. He is calm and collected as he does his work but at the same time, it seems to come easily for him. He tosses one of the kukri into the air a moment before throwing it at the tree, with it lodging itself in the trunk. He goes to take the knife out of the tree and thinks for a moment. He leans against the trunk and sighs, looking at the bar.

If people didn't see much of Gordon around Halloween, it's because he took a couple of stabs* at trying to use the broadsword Bar bestowed on him as part of his costume, and wound up mostly spending the holiday time outside as a result. The technique was interesting, if rather stabless, but probably not something he's going to repeat. He's quite happy with his bludgeoning weapon, thanks.
However, Halloween's over and there is nary a broadsword to be seen, and he no longer has the dual SMGs, either. Also, he's got his beard back, which is nice. You get used to that kind of thing.
He had a bit of a bad night last night and doesn't much feel like touching a weapon today, other than to make sure he's got the crowbar on his belt just in case something horrible happens. When he went to the Bar for breakfast, he got given a distraction.
He's pretty sure Bar is evil now.
*Pun intended

Alyx's conversation with Shephard the other night left her with a lot to think about.
For most of her life she's been focused on just surviving--living long enough to see another day. It wasn't until she met Gordon that she seriously started to think the war against the Combine could be brought to an end.
She's only now begun to imagine what it's going to be like after the war. And the picture is not an entirely rosy one.
She's currently out back, curled up against that rock Gordon likes to use when he's trying to clear his head. So far, it isn't helping.

Her first Halloween come and gone, Sativa was out of the shark costume, back in her more sensible attire and back through the door to Modoc.
She later returns to the bar, this time accompanied by a slick-coated, black, tan and white-colored Border Collie. "He didn't wander in though here, did he?" She asks the dog, who just whines. "Didn't think so. C'mon, Laddie." -For that is his name- "Let's take a break." He barks in response, which is probably an agreement. They'd covered as much ground as they could for one day.
After ordering from the bar she sits down with a glass of scotch, Laddie on the floor at her side with a dish of water and some beef jerky. On the table in front of her is something she found at the bottom of the town well, at the end of a tunnel, at the foot of a large pile of rocks: an old Red Ryder BB gun, the kind a child might own.
She quietly contemplates the object as she drinks, hoping it doesn't mean what she thinks it could mean.

You'll all be very pleased to know that when Dinah sneezes, the bar does not explode in sonic violence. She might have a superhuman respiratory system, but when she gets sick, she gets sick just like everybody else.
And apparently, she gets Bound. That's OK, she can deal with that, because she feels like crap.
One martial artist, curled up on the couch by the fire, in a thick fluffy Green Lantern blanket and a bowl of soup. The bowl is a Japanese miso bowl; the soup is chicken.
Mmmmmmm soup.

Toshiko. At a table. Drinking a white wine spritzer after a long day translating alien texts at the hub. However Tosh is quite incapable of leaving her work at the office so she also has a little hand-held gizmo that she's currently taking apart to try and find it's power source.
Company is welcome.

By now, it's habit. Kim breezes through the door, stops by the infirmary to check in, and then settles in a booth.
(Of late, the booth she picks is one that's got a good view of the room and a couple of clear paths for escape. Just in case.)
Tonight, though, she's flipping through a few pictures, and smiling over them.

[oom: Guppy and his wife casually toss ideas at one another. The first is greeted with trepidation, the second with surprisingly easy reception.]
Guppy comes in, with his baby son toddling along behind. He goes over to a table and flops down with some juice for them both.
"Splodey!" Alex yells at him, shaking the table excitedly.
"Yes, but careful with the table."
"Splodey!"
"Splodey is finished now. Your uncle Atton will start teaching you to blow stuff up if you keep shouting that across the bar."
Both botherable.

Will hasn't been sleeping or eating well since he found out that Doc died. He's been ghosting around the Bar, spending time at the punching bag and pells doesn't really help but its something to do.
Many times, he's walked to the door of the Security office and turned back around and tonight, he's collapsed in a chair near the fire with his eye on the Security door. Talking to Ramon wouldn't help since his anger would be too much, but he also knows that Kate needs him to be strong for her. So he'll keep going as he's always done.

Dave's been putting this off.
His first trip to Milliways unnerved him for a couple of reasons, there's no denying. There's people there he doesn't want to see, and things he quite possibly doesn't want to hear, and it would be easier by far to pretend the only world left to him is his own. But Dave Martyniuk, whatever other flaws he may have - and they're plentiful - isn't a guy, in the end, to run away from the things that unnerve him.
It's with square shoulders and a stiff, awkward set to his neck that he shoves his way back, finally, through the Milliways door.
He goes about his daily business at the law firm; he talks to Kim on the phone often enough, and sends her letters to say all the things he forgot to say on the phone, and then sometimes calls her again to say the things he forgot to say in the letters. But he doesn't mention the door that she showed him, and neither does she.
