(OOM: Millitimed to a few weeks ago, during Sunshine's trip to Thirteen's world, Sunshine and Thirteen take a day trip to New York City. Sights are seen! Subways taken! Zoos visited! Non-magical tattoos snickered at! Museums wandered! All-in-all, great trip.)

There's a boy wizard sitting at a booth near the Bar, equipped with the usual stack of books and parchment paper.

Only ... most of the books are left closed and neatly piled beside him, and the roll of parchment is still just that: a roll.

It seems that Albus is far too engrossed in one of the big black books before him.

The only reason he's neglecting his homework quite blatantly is because he's well aware that time stops in his world while he's here. So long as he gets something done before he heads back out the door, he figures he can leisure-read for just a spell (no pun intended).

But as he reaches for his recently untouched mug of butterbeer, his fingers grasp at nothing, and a quick blind sweep for said mug forces it to slide across the edge of the table -

- and land with a resounding crash! on the floor.

He puts his book down immediately and swears under his breath.

(And then suddenly blushes, embarrassed, for swearing and likely causing the entire bar to stare at him for the disturbance like he's ruined their entire day.)

"Oh, bugger."

A note has been left at the Bar.

ExpandTo Captain James T. Kirk )

Data is now in the Library, collecting information.

The computer was not very helpful—barely more than a database of the available books in this facility. As a result, he is forced to explore the shelves, and take the books out one by one so he can flip through them. Each book takes him nearly five seconds. It is a very tedious process.

He has not found much in the way of useful information so far, only because he is already familiar with much of it. The most helpful set of documents was a couple of journals written by someone he has never heard of, someone who was apparently Bound in Milliways for a long period of time. There were large gaps between the dates, but the journals did offer some useful information about this place, including a rough idea of its layout.

At the moment, he is working his way through an encyclopedia. But really, he is just killing time.

It would be a lot easier to look forward to graduation if people would stop asking, “So, what are you doing after graduation?” Parker would love to have an answer, but so far the world after May 16th is just one big, scary blank space.

The key to coping, she finds, it to just tackle the problem one piece at a time. Even if it’s just a piece designed to help her get her thoughts in order. At the moment, the piece is a document-in-progress on her laptop: “My Qualifications For Employment.”

It starts off with standard fare. B.A. in Psychology and Spanish (after May, please God). Fluency in Spanish. Web design experience. Retail / Customer Service Experience...

It gets considerably more colorful towards the bottom.

* Routinely cares for Princess Royal and Crown Prince of a small European kingdom. Adapts well to medieval environment.

*Had a 78% success rate in getting people to upgrade their vibrator purchases.

*Assisted in negotiating my own release when taken hostage by a dragon.

*Psychologically intimidated Canadian stalker into loss of bladder control.

*Capable of flouting the Space-Time Continuum at will via the door of my closet.

Parker studies her list. Buries her face in her hands. And groans.

“I am so screwed.”

Carlotta is having a twinge of conscience.

Desperate to escape the Awkward of her own house, she managed to persuade her father and grandmother to let her spend the last week of the holidays at Libby's, as she had been invited. What she neglected to tell them was that Libby isn't actually there, and by an astonishing coincidence, her brother Will is.

It was worth it. She's spent the first half of the week with nice horsey people and is looking happier for it. She's currently sketching a picture of a foal using a photograph, which could come in handy for art later in the term.

The couch in front of the fireplace has an Yrael on it, tonight, looking happier than he has in a number of days. In fact, he looks like nothing more than a lazy, content, well-fed cat.

Only in human form.
