Well. After some galvanizing conversations with Hotspur and with Jim Moriarty, young William Douglas is all on fire to go Do a Thing. Fight a Fight. Raise some Hell. So he's packed up, and made his goodbyes to Jamie, and now he's stopping by the Bar to be sure his tab is all paid. (...And Jamie's, to cover him for some time yet.)

Hm. He should probably leave Jim a note, since he's promised his help getting stuff up the mountain and now he's leaving. On the other hand, Jim can take care of himself. So--eh, whatever. Anyway, with any luck, he'll be back in Milliways soon. There's got to be another way into this place somewhere, right?

William shoulders his bag and makes for his door.

Exit post, but feel free to catch him before he goes.

William has some lariat from home and ropes from the stables that need repairing, normally he'd be doing the work in the tackroom but its cold out there. So he's settled by the fire, retwisting and fixing everything. The ropes from Milliways don't need as much because the ropes are better quality, his rawhide lariat needs oiling and more serious repair.

The television is on and he's found a rodeo on, he's never seen that many people watching cowboys or all the lights, the money being mentioned is huge. Its a bull riding event and he keeps catching his breath and cursing whenever someone falls, he gets riding broncs but bulls, that's something else.

Gavroche is sprawled out in a chair by the fireplace, covered in dogs.

Jo's head is on his knee and Franz is lying heavily on his feet, so that he can't get up just now. He calls to a waitrat to order another drink.

Two waitrats return, bringing him his drink - and a stack of books and a note, besides.

He begins to frown as he reads it, his feelings mixed.

From some corner of the bar, Madame Thénardier emerges, with a stack of books, which she deposits with the bar.

Also, she leaves a message.

To my children, Gavroche and Éponine:

I have gone back to Montfermeil, as my door returned and I mean to pick up my life again, with you in it. Who knows, we might even go to Paris and have a grand future. Here are my books; I liked them and can't take them along, so perhaps you will enjoy them.

Your mother, Jeanne-Marie Thénardier

Then, she just steps out of the door, and is gone.
