Ellen's not having trouble with the language today, which is just fine by her. She's got enough to deal with at home; there's been news coming up from DC and it's not really the greatest.

Getting a drink first is probably a good idea. She'll stump out to the back later (it's hard to do anything graceful in power armor and she just hasn't felt like taking hers off) and get some range practice in when she gets the chance. She's available either place, though.

It's been a while since Peter was in the bar. He's been busy. Running across the continental United States to track down relatives your mother pissed off isn't always easy.

Also there's the whole thing with Nixon, but that's more of 'watching a train wreck in super slow motion' than 'actively keeping the world's shortest attention span from remembering Milliways'.

For now? There's a duct-tape-colored streak in the Bar working on the biggest pile of French fries he's ever managed to snare at once.

... okay, why does the Bar sound way the hell more like paying a visit to Andamooka than Shephard remembers? It hasn't been that long, has it?

It still has beer, right?

[OOC: Shephard speaks English, Mexican Spanish, and Satere-Mawe. He can also say incredibly vulgar and/or blasphemous things in English, Spanish, Satere-Mawe, German, Russian, Arabic, Huttese, Dutch, Quebecois, Brazilian Portuguese, Na'vi, Finnish, and... I've forgotten the others, but he was up to fifteen or sixteen different languages in which he could cuss. He used to run Happy Hours where he offered discounts to people who could teach him new curse words, so there is probably a good chance that he can swear in a language your pup recognizes.]

Varric got some requests from his publisher today. He's extremely suspicious of a few of her claims, but there's not much he can do about his supposedly awful Orlesian sales numbers just at the moment. It'll take him a while to get something written that suits their tastes. Maybe an awful romance serial? Something with a redheaded guard captain?

.... wait, it doesn't smell like the Hanged Man ...

"[Huh. Thought this place and me were on the outs,]" he says, and then pauses. "[Wait a second. When did they get this many different languages in here?]"

[OOC: Varric speaks the common tongue (or trade tongue), which sounds like English but isn't, and Orlesian, which sounds like French but isn't. He recognizes Antivan, Tevene, and Qunlat, but can't actually speak any of them.]

Elrond Peredhil is intrigued.
So many languages.

It is clearly upsetting to a lot of people, so he is mindful of not letting his enthusiasm show.
And of course there is always a risk that it is somehow a part of something sinister.

Still.
Languages.

{ooc: Tolkien' s languages are inspired by real languages but they are not equivalent. Elrond knows most of them at least a little.}
