Autor has made a decision. Since coming back from the war, he's been floundering, unfocused. He needs something to do with his life. So, he's decided, after a thorough examination of his interests, that he's going back to school. He wants to become a doctor.

With that in mind, he needs money to fund his education--and leave Germany. He plans to go to America with his family, so he'll need a substantial nest egg. He approached Wilford, and secured employment: $1000 per week to cook for his dog. A thousand dollars in Wilford's time and place is worth significantly more in Autor's. If the ex-soldier plays his cards right, he'll be a millionaire within a year.

Still, before he goes to Wilford's world, he'd like to get a head start on his schooling. He pens a note in a long, flowing script to Guppy.

Dr. Guppy Sandhu )

Note delivered, he sits and waits at the bar with a giant anatomy text to occupy his time. He reads slowly, having to reorient himself every few minutes. Focusing on books is difficult, but he just knows he'll improve if he keeps at it.

The door opens, sliding open with a hiss. The good doctor strolls in studying a data pad, unknowing of how he has wandered off the ship until his boots clunk against the wooden floor. The smile that stretches across his face is incandecent.

"Well, good evening, Miss Bar. I don't suppose you have some Kentucky bourbon there for me?"
