Robots make many things easier! Especially when it comes to removing debris and rubble from old buildings, or determining how to power up a computer system you've never encountered before, or clearing a section of the nearby river of vicious mutant hippos.

They do not, however, make it easier to relax after sixteen hours' straight fieldwork, so Ellen didn't bring any with her today when she came in to get a beer. Dogmeat, sure, but not the robots.

No offense to the drinking places in Philly but Milliways is a much easier place to deal with sometimes.

There are several ways to identify an ironwood tree, specifically Holodiscus discolor: the deciduous, lobed, and triangular leaves, gracefully arched stems, and lacy masses of fragrant flowers which bloom starting in May. Baze knows them all, from extensive research. He had hoped to use uneti wood, but doesn't want to order it from Bar. Chopping the branches down himself has a lot of appeal to him, and, since he's constructing his lightbow on an Earth-like asteroid, why not use a tree from Earth?

So he researched Earth trees, conversing back and forth with Bar, until he found one he liked the strength of--and the color, too. Originally, he planned to go with black walnut, but Ganymede convinced him to use ironwood, for the raw strength. Holodiscus discolor shrubs aren't native to Scotland, but Bar assured Baze that there are some available in the forest, along rocky ledges.

He just has to find them.

Teja gave him an axe as a birthday gift, so he heads into the forest today, stopping by the counter for a bottle of water. He can be caught before he leaves, or can be found traipsing through the forest, whistling.

Emcee, with lips as red as the rose tucked behind his right ear, sits down at the piano and begins to play a song for the love-me's and love-me-not's that wend their way though Milliways.

"When you're young,
Feeling oh so strong
What can prove you wrong?
Love, and love alone."

It very much has a cabaret feel -- lilting, sensuous, yet droll. Emcee could never keep the slight twist to his mouth away, his subtle smirk coloring his voice just as subtly.

"When the sun,
Seems forever bright
What can dim its light?
Love, and love alone.

"So beware young love, lost in a kiss
There's a truth young love, simple as this:
Every fond hello, ends in goodbye.
What seems certain to live, will die.

"So enjoy all the time there is
.
If you're his, be his,
Make each day your own.

"When tomorrow's come
And your heart is stone
What has made it numb?
Love and love alone.

Love and love alone
."

With the last note, he doesn't wait for applause or acknowledgement, but takes his glass of wine and disappears as quietly as he came.
