undead_radish_seller A corner of the bar is dedicated to Chinese food today -- there is a big round table just magically large enough for everyone who wants to come, with a wealth of dishes in bowls and platters on the table, bowls for rice and bowls for soup, chopsticks and porcelain spoons at the ready.
There is tea in pots and baijiu in small carafes, with the attendant small cups for each; there is niangao cake and sweet rice dumplings and sago pudding with mango.
There are red decorations around the festive table, with red dragons and lanterns and calligraphy scrolls. Every kid that comes up will be given a red envelope for luck -- with money inside, and perhaps a few vouchers it can use at the bar. On screens in that area, you will see shows like this one or songs like this.
Later on, at midnight, there will be fireworks over the lake, and firecrackers that everybody can set off, which make a nice bang and not much damage, even if mishandled. It's actually a custom to drive away a mythical monster, but causing loud noises is fun! Explosions are fun, and not only if you're fire-aligned. Everybody who celebrates will probably drift outside with drinks around midnight, as the fireworks and firecrackers will, leisurely, take two or three hours, rather than setting everything off at once.
At some stage, there will be a big red dragon over the lake, made up of many synchronised LED drones. Some tech wizard probably spent day programming them.
People are encouraged to stay up all night, drinking and talking and eating some more and watching the fireworks; after all, the monster needs to be warded off until the dawn!
