moonandstar: (On the Warpath)

Garyn's new command had been a busy one. At least every week, and usually more than once a week, he was leading his men far afield of the fort, traveling quickly over miles of hard country to accomplish the dangerous missions that the garrisons could not be spared for. Some involved moving his whole complement of hundreds of Legionnaires. Others were missions for a select few. But on each one, he won glory for the Legion - sometimes even claiming prizes - and he had lost not a single soldier doing it. Already the fame of the Duke's Heavy Armigers had spread, and with it, their young, dashing Dunmer commander.

There was some grumbling when they were already ordered to move to Fort Buckmoth near Ald'ruhn, not two months after being activated. The official reasons given were sensible enough - the Armigers were always meant for the Ashlands, and Buckmoth had larger stables than Moonmoth, with larger quarters. Garyn, however, knew the true reason - it had to do with his orders from Caius. He needed an informant to tell him of the looming threat from the Ashlanders.

But arriving in Redoran country with a reputation as a great warrior who had done work for the house brought certain other kinds of attention along with it. And he had no sooner crossed through Ald'ruhn's walls than he was flagged by a Redoran messenger. Neminda had urgent work for him, defending a councilman from Morag Tong assassins. He arrived literally just in time to strike down a wave of them, the noble's current shift of guards having died in the previous attack.

And just like that, he had been pulled into the intrigue of House Redoran - and indeed, the House itself. Athyn Sarethi's son was in trouble, and the Archmaster Bolvyn Venim was taking advantage of this situation to attempt to take out a rival on the council. But after a daring, stealthy rescue, and some investigation into the Sixth House treachery that had embroiled him, he had resolved the issue.

And now...well, for the second time in his life, he had been adopted. And would soon have a fief of his own. He would be a real gentleman.

He's so lost in thought, so caught up in the idea, that he almost doesn't noticed that he has entered Milliways. His expression would be hard to read even if he weren't wearing the Masque of Clavicus Vile.
