Belar got some news from the security office yesterday, and hoo nelly is he not pleased. His Mongols were told very firmly that he was going to be away for a little while, because he didn't want to cause any issues in their immediate vicinity; he's in the Bar now with his sign up.

"Stop it or create it, as necessary," says Belar. "They'll do a couple of days in the cells for punishment, but if they keep acting up like this I'm going to have to come up with something more permanent."

Gus nods thoughtfully, before looking up to meet Belar's eyes properly for the first time during this conversation. "Why do I get the feeling I ain't the only one they've stabbed?" he asks.

"Because in their own world, they're professional killers and torturers," says Belar, "and around here they tore a man's arm off at the shoulder once."

"Jesus Christ," Gus mutters, putting his hand over his mouth. Suddenly, he doesn't feel like such a bad guy at all. "Is he all right?"

"He is now, yeah," says Belar. "It grew back. Don't know how, but it did. All I can say is- these are not people to mess around with. I can only be so many places at one time."

"I'll keep that in mind." He looks down at his hand, the still red lines mirroring one another on either side.

"I guess it wouldn't be smart to challenge them at dice next time, would it?" he asks, laughing slightly.

Gus has a very odd sense of humour.

"No."

The smile quickly fades, and Gus clears his throat. "Right," he says. "Dice: out."

"Do yourself a favor," Belar says. "Just avoid them. A man should know the length of his luck."

"Luck's just probability taken personally," Gus points out. He'd given up on luck before even setting foot in Vegas. Not that it ever helped him, any.

"Then a man should know the extent of his skill, and yours isn't going to be enough to outdo theirs," Belar says. "Fair warning."
