There are seven tarot cards seated around a table.
They regard each other.
Ruin is sipping his beer, eyes darting to Moon occasionally.
Wheel and Strength are sitting beside one another, Strength's two lions staring at Moon's two wolves.
Tower is smoking a cigar, holding a glass of scotch in his hand, and smiling to himself in not an entirely pleasant way.
Star is sitting, or as near as she gets to it, on the back corner of their table setting up a long line of multicolor dominoes which are crisscrossing the table.
Moon is huddled in her chair, her skirt now three-quarters red, her bright eyes staring at the dominoes Star was placing on the table.
Mary Anne has a glass of tequila and her copy of the Art of War (closed, in her lap); her feet are propped up on a chair stolen from a neighboring table.
A family meeting, the first in Milliways, and the uneasy silence has to be broken sometime.
