Due to two lessons on shielding, Charles has been thinking about the metaphors that are used to learn and make sense of abstract concepts and few things are more abstract than the workings of the mind. It's something he's always been fascinated by as how he pictures his shields has changed as he's grown older.
Currently he's at a table with a notebook, an illustrated book about historic battlements, his personal copy of The Once and Future King and the remains of his tea as he puts down the chronology of his mental walls.
Every once in a while, he'll look around and listen, savoring the diversity of minds here before returning to work. Perhaps no one will ever read this but it's useful for his own knowledge.
