Charles is tired, everything with Javert and Guppy took a great deal out of him and he doesn't feel rested yet. Though he also knows that he's not actually sick and staying in bed doesn't suit him so he comes downstairs to get some dinner and sits by the fire with a book.
He's rereading The Once and Future King as it always reminds him that different people can come together no matter how difficult the process is. His head stills hurts but as he's listening, he trying to see if there's any sense of the man who took Javert.
(OOC: Charles is listening passively but tired so his focus is slightly less. Please include your character's throughts in narration or a reason why he wouldn't hear them. Thank you.)
