It's wet and cold and damp out, because it's essentially Scotland in early September out there. Shephard is fine with this. Not like the weather in White Sulfur Springs is much better. Might as well take the opportunity to get some exercise in for both himself and the dogs. Running, mostly; the pushups and weights and the like are done long before dawn, since they're best handled alone and the houndeyes are mostly diurnal anyway.
(Although once in a while he does do a round of pushups with one or more of the dogs balancing precariously on his back. Just not today.)
If anyone wants him, he's the lone figure with the rucksack full of rocks running around the lake with a whole flock of blue-striped three-legged essentially headless alien eyeball dogs bounding along the trail behind him. He'll come in eventually and get breakfast, but he's got a couple miles to put in first, so catch him where you think is most likely.
