X-23,

A young S.H.I.E.L.D. agent under my purview has been provoked by a patron we believe to be Charles Xavier. According to her account, he appeared agitated and used information she had not divulged to unsettle her. As I understand it, you know Xavier. I would like to discuss what threat, if any, this man poses to my people.

Please contact me as soon as possible.

Once that is settled, Hill appends a follow-up to Simmons's original note letting the rest of the team know it's being handled. Copies of Hill's note to X-23 and a brief overview of the situation are left for Director Fury.

X hesitates.

"It might be better not to be unaccompanied. At first. When you talk to him."

Beat.

"You know how much longer your agent will remain here?"

She purses her lips in thought.

"Fine. Will you arrange a meeting?"

She doesn't know whether it's for Charles's safety or her own.

Maybe both.

"Until I give her word, no doubt."

"I will look for him," X says.

That is her version of 'yes'.

"You will be here?"

She nods.

"I will."

If Simmons can't go home, the least Hill can do is be here with her.

"Thank you, X-23."
