Ysalwen steps through the front door, looking lighter and less troubled than she has in weeks. Having your apprentice settled into a Tal-Vashoth mercenary team -- the Valo-Kas, as it happens -- will do that. Particularly given that they are newly formed, though taking in members of several different mercenary bands with a great deal of experience.

Meraad liked them, and James found very little to complain about with any of its members, so.

Ysalwen settles herself at a corner booth, pulling out her tablet-book and pulling up three holographic windows. One contains a complicated nuclear decay simulation, another has some sort of energetics equations on it, and the third is playing Die Hard. She's been told it's a quite interesting play, and so.

Liranan has settled underneath her chair, ready to take a nap while she works. He may come out when the movie's gunfire starts, or he might just roll his eyes and go back to sleep.

Ibani hms in agreement. "It feels different to me too."

"No need to apologize, I've a tendency to get that way myself, from time to time."

"Time to show off?"

Ibani's answering grin is also bright and challenging. "Shall I go first, or would you like to?"

Good thing they've reached an area with lots of rocks and other detritus to destroy.

"I'd like to see that pillar of fire you mentioned," Ibani remarks, drawing on the Force.

She calls up a short, sharp, spike of rage inside herself, and there's a fierce *CRACK* as a bolt of purple lightning steaks down from the sky and cracks a rock pillar.

Ibani whistles, impressed. "Very nice! I may have to experiment later, see if I can make fire."

She reaches for the Force again, calling up a whirlwind of purple energy that lifts a boulder off the ground and spins it around and around and around.

"Ah, I know that trick, or something like it!" Ibani replies, grinning. "And yes, much messier with anything alive."

Ibani reaches out with one hand, palm pointed toward a boulder, it rises in the air, then cracks apart much like Ysalwen's bolder did, as if it was caught in a giant fist.

Ibani laughs joyously as the snow and the lightning dance around the area. "Oh, bravo! I can echo the wind and the lightning, but I've never tried to make cold."

The rock shards left by the lightning and the ice rise into the air, start circling one another in complicated patterns. "Control was the hardest part for me, not calling upon my power. Was it like that for you?" If she seems a bit distracted, well, this is trickier than it looks.

Ibani lets the stone pieces drop gently to the ground, basking in Ysalwen's wonder.

"It took me many years and more hours of practice than I care to remember to be able to do that," she says, chuckling.

She nearly boggles in surprise when Ysalwen mentions turning someone to stone. "To stone? I've never heard of anyone in my universe attempting such a transformation, never mind succeeding!"

"Did you make the boulder, or did it come from this area here?" she asks, curious. She doesn't remember seeing a rock that looks like that here, but she could have missed it.

"That....that's amazing. To create solid matter, even temporarily," Ibani replies, awed. "I don't think my universe would allow anyone to do something like that."

"Energy I can make, call, but the closest I get to making true physical substance is healing, and that's more an acceleration of what happens naturally."

Ibani chuckles, her own expression wry. "I'd offer to try and teach you healing the way I do it, but since I taught myself by trial and error, well...."

"Probably several, the way my luck has been lately," Ibani replies. "Still, I could patch you up, if you ever needed it."

Ibani smiles softly. "Milliways is good for that, finding aid, and friends."

"I'd like to be your friend, if you're okay with that?" Ibani offers, her smile warm.

Ibani takes the offered hand and shakes, her grin bright. "Well then, friend, should I buy you a drink or should we see if we can make more rubble first?"
