Happy New All Skate!

"You know what, let's have a party."

Dinah threw her platinum card (thanks, Oracle) on the Bar and as a result there is free flowing champagne for everyone whose culture, age and religion permits champagne - and top quality soft alternatives for the rest. There are bar snacks doing the rounds around the tables, and delicate winter flower arrangements on each surface.

And most importantly, on the TV screen is a lot of dancing, a giant countdown, and a big ball ready to drop.

...and when the ball drops, something happens.

All welcome - yes, that means all. Whether they're retired, deleted, AU, original or already being played by someone else, bring 'em along.

Usual all-skate rules apply:
1. Everyone's stressed out of their mind right now, so have fun!
2. Communication is key.
3. Gratuitous behaviour (either of a violent or sexual nature) will not be tolerated in the bar proper. Take that to an OOM, and then Content Warning the hell out of it before you link it.
4. Much like Vegas, what happens in All Skates, stays in All Skates (in most cases)

It's the place with all the food! More noodles!

Tang Fan enters the bar with a happy smile on his face.

The man at the bar already meets his happy smile with one of his own. Although he does has a very familiar face, his brown robes are very different to the white hoodie, and there's no sign of recognition on his face - just the pleasure of seeing a smile.

Definitely a different person than the one he met last time, Tan Fang decides. He's had dealings with steppe people and foreign merchants, so he doesn't subscribe to the uneducated notion that western barbarians all look the same. This man is similar to Fives, but definitely no the same. Perhaps an older brother?

"Hello," he says, sidling closer. "Do you know what food they serve today?"

"Anything you order," Warlock replies helpfully. But there is a bowl of peanuts, which he picks up and offers. "These are good, though."

Tang Fan takes a peanut. "Yes, they are nice, but not really extraordinary. Also, not a whole meal, just nibbles."

He is a spoiled city dweller, apparently.

"What is good here? What would you eat?"

"Me?" Warlock glances upwards, considering the options.

"It's been a long time since I had a decent Chandrilan squall tendermeat in colla sauce. Perhaps Bar would provide?"

She does, and two dishes of the richly drenched red meat appear for them.

"Oh, meat!" Tang Fan says, looking happily at the dishes. "The last time, one of the people I ate with was a vegetarian. Very nice noodles, but meat for a change is fine!"

"Forgive me, I should have checked for dietary needs first."

But he's grinning - he trusts that Bar wouldn't have provided what his companion couldn't eat.

"I hope you enjoy it, it's a high end dish back home."

"The sauce smells really interesting and complex," Tang Fan says, wafting his hand over the dish and inhaling the scent.

Warlock hasn't started his, either. He's just letting the scent wash over him, like someone who hasn't sat down for a good meal in months (he hasn't.)

"I wish I could tell you what was in it. It's from Chandrila, that's all I know."

"Presumably," Tang Fan says, "it's meat. That is, the flesh of some animal that has been hunted or slaughtered."

He grins.

"At least that's what meat means in my world."

"Yes," Warlock laughs, "meat is the same in our galaxy. The colla sauce, though, is a secret that's beyond my learning."

"It smells very interesting," Tang Fan assures him. "You don't know what colla is, though? A fruit? A herb? The inventor of the sauce? The place it's from?"

[twoforce]

"At best guess a plant." He sounds almost apologetic. "I never asked when I enjoyed it, and haven't the time for recipes now."

"Why not?" Tang Fan asks, dipping his chopsticks (jade, one of them repaired with gold) into the sauce and tasting it.

[twoforce]

"This," he gestures at his fodo, which he's eating with a knife and fork, himself, "is something you only see on the upmarket core planets. And I'm a wanted criminal these days. Not a lot of time for the high life."

"Wanted criminal?" Tang Fan asks. "Should I be worried?"

He doesn't seem to be.

[twoforce]

Warlock offers a wry grin. "If a bounty hunter comes in here, blaster drawn, I'll try to avoid you getting caught in the cross fire."

"Oh?" Tang Fan says. "I thought they're not allowed to do that here."

[twoforce]

"They're not," Warlock admits. "But people will do a lot for the right price."

And the price for a surving Jedi is very high indeed.

"I think," Tang Fan says, "they might get washing up duty forever if they do that."

[twoforce]

Warlock grins, lifting a fork with a chunk of meat pierced on the tynes. "And I would be happy to dirty as many plates as possible, if that were the case."

"You can have elaborate banquets with very little food on very many plates," Tang Fan giggles.

He decides to go ahead, picks up a knife, cuts up the meat, and then picks up a sauce-drenched piece with his chopsticks.

"Oh, this is good!"

"Told you," Warlock says, with great satisfaction. "Almost worth travelling to Chandrila for and risking being caught for."

"But then you'd have to lure them here in order to get them punished," Tang Fan says. "And Security might think it's a dishonest way of catching criminals."
