"You know what, let's have a party."

Dinah threw her platinum card (thanks, Oracle) on the Bar and as a result there is free flowing champagne for everyone whose culture, age and religion permits champagne - and top quality soft alternatives for the rest. There are bar snacks doing the rounds around the tables, and delicate winter flower arrangements on each surface.

And most importantly, on the TV screen is a lot of dancing, a giant countdown, and a big ball ready to drop.

...and when the ball drops, something happens.

All welcome - yes, that means all. Whether they're retired, deleted, AU, original or already being played by someone else, bring 'em along.

Usual all-skate rules apply:
1. Everyone's stressed out of their mind right now, so have fun!
2. Communication is key.
3. Gratuitous behaviour (either of a violent or sexual nature) will not be tolerated in the bar proper. Take that to an OOM, and then Content Warning the hell out of it before you link it.
4. Much like Vegas, what happens in All Skates, stays in All Skates (in most cases)

Oh, hey. Clark remembers this place. His life has been a little crazy lately, but he's going to try and take the interruption in stride. After getting a drink from Lady Bar, he can be found at a table near the wall, people-watching. Because that's what you do at a party right?

At some point, he might head outside to walk by the lake and get some fresh air.

A chair at the table is pulled out, and a butt is dropped on that chair. The butt itself is in a cocktail dress, and the legs attached to it are in fishnets.

"Parties at this place always seem to be more people-watchers than watched-people," Dinah observes wryly.

It's not a complaint, just a mild tease!

"That would assume the people-watchers aren't being watched themselves."

One corner of his mouth turns up. "Which group do you prefer?"

She flashes a smile at that, acknowledging he has a point, and sits back, looking over the bar.

"I like them both," she says. "As long as everyone's having a good time, right?"

[boyscout]

"That's generally how it's supposed to go."

With personal variants on 'good time', of course. Clark's been traveling long enough to know that there are variants. And exceptions.

He waves over a rat carrying a tray of sandwiches. "Can I interest you in ham or tuna?" Because the best way to make friends is with food, according to his mother.

"I never turn down food."

It's definitely the surest way to Dinah's heart.

"Tuna goes better with the champagne. Thank you."

She helps herself to a tuna sandwich, and puts another on the table for later, in case the rat doesn't return.

"How bar makes tuna sandwiches that taste this good I'll never understand."

He opts for the ham, having just been hired aboard a fishing vessel.

"I'll have to remember that the next time I'm offered tuna and high-priced bubbly." And takes a second one as well, following her lead. "... Magic, apparently?"

"You say magic like it explains everything," Dinah says, "but I've eaten Zatanna's home cooking and believe me, magic is no replacement for artistry."

She has a lot of opinions about how superpowers don't make up for skill, like only a formerly powered fighter can.

But he doesn't want to hear about that, does he? She offers a friendly smile to prove that she's joking rather than about to launch into a rant.

"I'm Dinah, by the way."

There's something about him, a kind of energy she's drawn to. Yet, she knows she's never seen him before.

"You don't look like you're enjoying yourself."

[boyscout]

"Why is that?"

Genuinely curiosity, since he isn't sure what his body language conveys inside the bar.

She shrugs, arms curled around her waist.

"You're back here, all alone."

[boyscout]

"Doesn't mean I'm not enjoying myself."

Of course, it doesn't mean that he is.

"Are you alright?"

[scarletrevenger]

"Just making sure."

She offers a tiny smile.

"I'm fine. You remind me of someone somehow."

[boyscout]

He's not entirely sure what to say and focuses on the other matter instead.

"Who is that?"

[scarletrevenger]

"His name is Steve. He doesn't come here."

At least not as far as she knows.

[boyscout]

"Thanks." He thinks. "Is that good or bad?"

That he reminds her of what is hopefully a friend.

Hopefully.

"It's good." Very good.

"Steve is a great guy."
