We're sorry, Milliways.

But Obi-Wan Kenobi has a song stuck in his head.

He's not doing anything crass like humming or singing it out loud. In fact, he's just sitting quietly at the bar, reading from a datapad and drinking.

It's just that the Force is now echoing with it, and as we all know the Force can have a strong influence on the weak minded, so...

"I suppose I'm lucky, in the multiversal sense," Obi-Wan says reflectively, "that we have such a long tradition and ways in which we can master our practice. It seems many people are thrust into having abilities without the guidance available to them."

"Not having anyone is far too common in my wold but I'm trying to become someone that people can turn to, so they can learn about their abilities."

"An admirable goal," Obi-Wan says. It is always important to have someone to turn to, and that's a fundamental part of his life. He only hopes he can be to Anakin and Ahsoka what Qui-Gonn was to him.

"Are there many people on your world with these abilities?"

I'm still learning how many there truly are,"

He knows there should be a decent percent of the population.

"But you don't know?"

He tries that out in his head. "Are they hidden? Is it a new phenomenon?"

"Not in as much detail as I'd like. Yes to both, some are more hidden than others and I'm looking into better ways to find them. How do you find Jedi?"

"Certain members of the Order train themselves to detect younglings who are particularly strong in the Force," Obi-Wan says. "Then they roam the galaxy looking for them, and offering parents the choice to have them trained."

"That must be a complex and rewarding duty,"

Its similar to what Charles would like to do but he knows he'll be sending others out to be his messengers.

"I always thought it must be," he agrees. "It wasn't my destiny, but I have enjoyed the chances I've had at working with younglings."

"What kinds of work do you do with them?"

If he's a general then it seems rare for him to be spending time with children.

"Lightsaber combat mostly," Obi-Wan says, and then to answer Charles' thoughts, he explains:

"My work in the army is only for the duration of the war, and only part of my duties as a Jedi Master. The life of the Temple must go on."

"The Temple must be a busy place,"

And the kind of atmosphere that Charles wants to create at his school.

"But peaceful, for being in the middle of a city," Obi-Wan says. "And - ah, you live on a single planet Earth, I believe? Corsucant is a whole planet of a city."

"I do, yes, a planet of a city. That's not easy to picture. Its not too overwhelming to have the Temple among so many others?"

It would be good for practice but for a student could be daunting.

"Oh we do our best to make it an oasis," Obi-Wan explains. "Meditation, calming exercises, that kind of thing. Being able to work with the Force helps."

"I can see how it might help, and the presence of many other lives can be calming. A reminder of how connected we all are."

"Exactly," Obi-Wan says. "The Temple itself is in a place that's particularly strong with the Force. It makes for a good place to centre oneself."

"If the Force is everywhere, how are some places stronger in it?"

Obi-Wan thinks about how to explain this.

"Do you have oceans on Earth?"

"Yes, we do, most of the planet is ocean."

"Oh good," he says, because that makes the metaphor easier.

"And in the ocean - there's water everywhere, but in some places it's deeper than others?"

"Yes, there are deep trenches and shallow parts."

"And so it is with the Force," says Obi-Wan. "The Temple on Coruscant is in one of the deep parts."

"I see and has the Temple been there for a long time?"

"Since the beginning of the Republic at least," says Obi-Wan. "So about five thousand years."
