"Very good." He grins at Garion's meal--he's such a growing boy. "How are you doing?"

I have a job! I'm so pleased about it. Wolf treated me to ice cream over it last night and I'm still sort of excited.

Breakfast. Richard's taking off for a time to be with his new baby and all that so I asked him if he needed someone to do is and he said yes and I asked Bernard and I start as soon as Richard leaves.

As soon as she's adopted, sure.

I think she's waiting for me to give her something to wear down here. Unfortunately, she made her way here in a night gown and...while she doesn't have any shame about...such things, I think she's waiting to make a grand entrance in something stunning.

Yes, well, she's also Tolnedran...which means that she watches money like a hawk. She was glad to find my tab brought down to zero after the war...but what little money I brought isn't enough for something of quality. She seems content to wait until I've earned a little.

Boone is at a nearby table, still reading his copy of The Stand. He looks up and, catching Garion's eyes, smiles. He returns to his book.

*he stops, because people don't usually notice him much, and smiles back, but he's already looked down. So, slightly nervous, he walks over*

Boone looks up from his book, surprised to see that the gentleman came over to his table. "Oh, hello," he says with a hesitant smile.

What, uh, what are you reading? Anything interesting?

he closes the book, revealing the cover to the boy. "It's pretty interesting so far, but I am not far in. Only 10 pages or so." Then he adds, "I've been a bit distracted."

You know, for a place that isn't supposed to have any violence, there sure seems to be a lot of trouble that people keep having...

"Well, it wasn't violent, I just...don't agree with a guy she has been seeing." Boy, is that putting it lightly.

*he sighs with relief*

That's...um...sort of good to hear. What's your problem with him?

He decides not to say 'He's not me' and avoid that whole story, so instead he says. "He's just not good for her." Upon realizing the boy is still standing, "Would you like to sit?" he motions to the chair across from him.

How isn't he good enough? And who is he? Is he here at the bar or back where you're from?
