Peter heads over to the bar and asks for pen and paper.
He sits there, nibbling on the end of the pen, before finally writing.
Dear Miss Kane,
I should like to take this opportunity to apologise for my behaviour of Friday afternoon. I had no right to give you unsolicited advice, and I sincerely regret the ensuing misunderstanding. I shall not intrude upon your existance any further without an indication that you wish to continue our friendship.

The letter fades into the bar, to be delivered to Lilly when she is next at Milliways.
Peter stays on his barstool, looking pensive, and perhaps a bit sad.
