milliways_bar | Ingress's Sixth Birthday Party

*It's eleven o'clock on Saturday morning, thanks to Millitime, and the stage is set for Ingress's birthday out by the lake. The House of Arch family has gathered around a perfect picnic spot under a tree. Right beside them is a playground Tom has conjured just for the occaision. There is a swingset, a slide, a merry go round, and a sandbox charmed with sand that's perfect for building.

Ingress is wearing a gown fit for a princess. It has been charmed against stains and ripping just for this special day. She is also wearing a blinking button which reads "I am 6!" She is very, very, very excited.

Tom, Door, Gavroche, and Megwyn are putting finishing decorating touches on the picnic tables set up with a gigantic cake, gallons of ice cream from Florean Fontescue's ice cream parlor, and punch. There is also a table with baskets of wizarding crackers. These are gifts for the guests - once the crackers are popped, the recipient will get a hat of some kind (maybe there will be a plethora of pirate hats!) and a wizarding toy or game like chess or gobstones. Or whatever else you'd like - the guest gets to decide!

There are several chairs under the tree as well, providing a good view of the playground.

Door wouldn't miss today for the world.

So here she is, sitting next to Tom and grinning madly.

*Tom is happier than he's been in... well, he's a pretty happy fellow now, but this day might be one of those special days when everything's a little brighter.*

She may have noticed the Q flash of light as he appeared. Now he stands about, watching with intent eyes.

Flash of light? Door is, perhaps, a little overprotective, so she keeps half an eye on Q, wanting to make sure he's safe.

He smiles to her and nods, strolling over. "Good afternoon."

Door smiles in return.

"Good afternoon. Do you know Ingress?"

He smiles a little. "I do now." He extends his hand to her. "Allow me to introduce myself. I'm Q, of the Q Continuum."

Door shakes his hand firmly, actually friendly now.

"I'm Door, Lady of the House of Arch. It seems that everyone here meets Ingress eventually."

He gives her a sort-of bow. "A pleasure, Lady Door. How old is Ingress now?"

"She turned six on Monday," she tells him. "She's growing up fast."

He nods. "It's a common conception that children do that."

"Oh, I'm sure she's not growing up any faster than I did. I've just had to miss so much of it."

The smile on Door's face as she watches Ingress is perhaps just a little bit wistful.

He politely asks "What happened?"

*Ingress comes by, sproingy star headband on her head, pirate coat over the princess dress, and magnificent sparkly blue shoes on her feet. She clambers up onto Door's lap, squeezing her around the neck*

Door hugs Ingress tightly.

"Good, I'm glad! Have you remembered to say thank you to the people who have given you all the lovely presents?"

I have. And I've given them their presents too.

I don't think Indy liked his much. He's grumpy.

Door laughs.

"From what I know of Indy, he's often grumpy. Don't let it worry you, love."

Okay!

Are you having fun? You should come and swing!

"I'm having lots of fun! But I'm sure I'd have even more fun swinging with you."

*She starts giggling*

No, I'd have more fun swinging than you.

Door giggles right back.

"I'd have more fun swinginging with you than I would with anyone else."

Let's go swing then!

*She pulls Door by the hand over to the swingset and hops into one of the swings.*

Give me a push?

Door pulls Ingress back, then runs forward, pushing Ingress in front of her, so that she ends up running under Ingress's feet.

WHEEEEEE!

A high push just like Daddy did!
