To say that April was blushing would have been a massive understatement. She was positively scarlet.
"No," she managed, and her head was back in her hands again. "That's not what I'm talking about. I know that we were talking about it before, and that it is kinda why we were talking about this in the first place, but can we please forget about it for a minute? Because you're missing my point."
God, she wanted to die. Funny how all of her apparent sexual finesse was reduced to the awkward flailing of a preteen when she was around him. She just didn't want to think about sex and Raph in the same context, ever. Made her aware of things she thought best left ignored.
*Raph might have taken some comfort in her full blush, where he making any sort of eyecontact with her at all...which he wasn't. What he was doing was trying to figure out if removing a limb would get him out of this conversation, and if so...which limb.*
"No." She knew that much for sure. It couldn't possibly get any worse. "Do you remember that talk we had, about not liking to share?" She cut him a sideways glance, peering through her fingers.
"I'm talking about you and your double-standard, Mister, that's what I'm talking about! How possessive you get, and don't even try and deny it! If I even show interest in anyone other than Casey, you make it a personal goal to emotionally scar the guy!"
Ah, Raph logic. Completely insane and yet unarguable. He was every bit as stubborn as she was.
"It's for his own good that you scare him witless?" April sighed, conflicted. On one hand, he was completely frustrating. On the other, he was doing precisely what she wanted. "I'm not this territorial with you."
"I think the concept here is me smacking someone else because of you," April replied. "You got smacked for being an ass. Not because of me being possessive." She wasn't downgrading that adjective.
"I-" April's voice halted, because she wasn't sure what she wanted to say. She'd not expected him to respond that way; she'd expected more argument. "...no," she admitted, any indignance slipping away, leaving a slightly mournful pout. "Maybe I just don't see why it is you think you get to have your cake and eat it, too."
"It was just sex. I'm not picking out china patterns."
How could she explain to him that it wasn't the same? He wouldn't understand. There was love, and there was sex. The two never intersected for her. How could they?
"Then what are you saying?" she asked quietly, looking back over to him. "Because it's one or the other. You either think I can't take care of myself, or you just don't want to share me with anyone else. I'd really rather you were just honest about it than make excuses." She bit against her bottom lip. "I'm not mad."
