One small, dark sorcerer seated at a table.
For a certain definition of modern, he is dressed in modern clothing. Long sleeved t-shirt, blue jeans, civil war era duster. Also his normal heavy leather bracers, even if the t-shirt doesn't need them. Its a comfort thing.
The jeans and t-shirt make him look younger than usual.
Mentioning that he looks like a teenager is not likely to get you any bonus points.
He does have his sword, but one of the benefits of a magic sword of alien metal is you don't actually have to sharpen it.
