It has been some nine months since Archie first stumbled through the door into Milliways. Nine months of discovery and adventure and woe and frustration and joy and terror and passion and learning. And most of what he has learned is exactly how much he does not know.
So he's sitting outside by the lake on a rock overlooking the water trying to remedy this. He's got the sheaf of notes that Arithon gave him once again, as well as the little illusion.
He'll be out there until the light gets too dim to read by, and then probably a while longer.
