Logan. Bar. Coffee.

He went home recently. Didn't much like it, so he came back. Things are chaos at the Casablancas house and in Neptune in general, and normally Logan would be thrilled, but his playmate's too busy for him at the moment, and Veronica and Duncan are still super-lovey.

Miliways is a better place to be at the moment.

He's pleased to be here, and looking for a chat.

"Hey," Behrooz says a little quietly, sitting down next to him.

Logan smiles at Behrooz. "Hey yourself," he says. "Is it another day of woe in Milliways?"

Apple pie goes remarkably well with coffee, you know.

Amy has probably just set a piece on the table in front of him.

"Hello, Logan."

He shrugs slightly. "I wouldn't know, I just came in."

"Sometimes, that's the best time to be here," Logan says. "Before the angst sets in really hard core and there's no fun to be had."

Logan's face lights up. There is little as wonderful as pie. "Amy! You brought dessert! You're my new favorite person."

There's ice cream on top as well. Heaven. Logan digs in.

She laughs. "Anne and I made it yesterday," she says. She's very proud of that pie.

"How are you?"

Behrooz thinks about this for a moment. Then says, "I just saw it as a good time to put off doing homework."

"And a lovely job you two did," Logan says, highly appreciative.

Logan thinks for a moment. "I'm okay," he says finally, and it's true. Things still pretty much suck, but hey, he's here, and okay. ~~Until Wednesday, anyway~~.

Logan laughs. "That too," he says. "Even though I've blown off school most of the week, so no homework for this hooky-playing truant."

~~Wednesday. Shudder.~~

"Good," she says. "And thank you. I'm glad you like it."

Her smile is very bright.

"I do," he says. "And you seem a bit cheerier today than you did the last time I saw you. What gives?"

"Well, if you do go back, you can always come in here to make it up," he says, trying to push the homework issue from his mind.

"Very good point," Logan says. "And totally sneaky, which is really the best part."

Pause.

"Unless time decides to speed up instead of stand still at home. It did that once, and dude, that was so not cool."

She's trying harder, for one thing. She's actually pretty worried about Caspian.

"I've had a pleasant day," she says, "and I learned to make pie, and got soundly beaten at chess yesterday, but had a very good time playing. I finally finished a second dress" -- which she is wearing, gold-brown wool, skirts sweeping all the way down to her ankles -- "and there are interesting people about to talk to."

And she even manages to sound like she's not trying to convince herself that all is well.

He looks briefly to the door, and then back again. "Yeah, that wouldn't be good for me."

"Sounds pretty good all around," Logan says. He's not so oblivious today, so he picks up on the convincing a little. "There's a 'but' in there somewhere, am I right? And I'm not talking about a booty call here."

Logan forgets that most people here don't get his oh-so-clever pop culture references.

"I wouldn't recommend it," Logan says. "It's profoundly weird."

As there was a point when Behrooz was getting memories from two different outside lives while in the bar, he had a feeling he vaguely knows what this is like. But he says, "I'll try to avoid it. Though I doubt I'd have much choice in it, anyway."

Amy looks at him a little blankly, but decides not to ask. It's really for the best that she doesn't.

There's a shrug. "There always seems to be someone to worry about here, I suppose."

Behrooz's sounds worse, really.

"True enough," Logan agrees. "The Bar sends whither it wills, and all of that."

It really is a good thing.

"That is a very true thing," Logan agrees. "Even if you don't know them personally, someone else you do know does, and it just all amounts to badness. Who're you worrying over?"

"My brother. And it's a little silly, because he's more than capable of looking after himself, but . . . little sister perogiative, right?"

"Totally," he agrees. Logan may have a crappy relationship with his own sister, but he watched Duncan and Lilly for long enough that he knows how the thing's supposed to work. "Sometimes its the people who look after themselves who get the most worry, for some reason."

Well, his mun likes to be confusing sometimes.

After a moment, he asks, "I take it things aren't much better on the outside now, then?"
