The Doctor, sipping his tea, notices the blue chap and the book he's reading. Amused, he strolls over to say hi.

"Ah, Joyce. Fabulous writer. 'A father, said Stephen, battling against hopelessness, is a necessary evil,'" he quotes.

Michael looks up with a half-grin.

"Yeah, 's an old favourite. Hi."

"Hi," he replies with a goofy grin. "How are things with you, Michael? Haven't seen you around in a while. Keeping you busy, I imagine?"

"Pretty good. But, yeah. Busy. Between work and the family..."

The Doctor nods. "Sounds refreshingly normal. Well, as normal as it can sound for the reincarnated General of the armies of an alien planet who takes his coffee breaks at the Bar at the End of the Universe."

Michael blinks. "...when you put it like that, it makes my life on Earth almost sound normal."

With a playful grin, he replies, "When I put it like that, it makes my life sound almost normal. All I do, after all, is travel about in time and space and get into trouble."

"Normal doesn't mean boring, though", Michael points out with a grin.

He chuckles.

"True enough. Things are rarely boring around here, that's certain."
