Jolly old Jed Leland strolled into the bar looking as he always looks: in quite the high spirits.

Well, nevermind that it was all artifice, and nevermind that he immediately ordered a scotch on the rocks as soon as he sat at the bar. Hey, wasn't the pursuit of happiness the reason why he ordered such a hard drink?
