He hasn't been here in quite some time. Since his "death" and rebirth, he has come here less frequently, having found his home. He has been slowly regaining his memories of his life, as well.

Yet sometimes, doors open, and even the mighty are summoned to the end of all worlds.

He chuckles softly to himself as he steps through the door that will never disappear again. He walks to the bar and sits at a stool. He doesn't remember himself here, but here he is again. Things come full-circle, always.

He puts his hands on the bar and silently asks for a drink -- apricot brandy. He is surprised when she gives him also an apricot pastry with a little candle stuck in it. He laughs and blows it out.

"Happy birthday to me. Thank you, milady."

He did remember when he was born after all. And he's remembered his mother's name, and his sisters' faces, and he's remembered the pet sheep he kept as a child in Dorthonion.

And he's remembered the smell of the wind, and the shape of forever back when all it took to touch Time itself was determination and a good hiding place.

He sits at the bar, munching the pastry happily, and watches how things have grown. There are many new faces, and as he scans them all, one of them at least catches his attention. A familiarity in a stranger's poise and appearance. Himself, more than a year ago.

And I'm the one who stays.

Enters Random, looking happy and covered in a comfortable amount of finger paint, sleeves rolled up past his elbows and feet bare. Some surprise crosses his face as he steps into the bar. It's been a long time since he was 'brought' here without searching it out... come to think of it, it's been a long time since he searched it out, too. Maybe that has something to do with it.

Anyways, since he's here, he's making the best of it and getting a cup of coffee, a newspaper, and heading over to relax in an armchair next to the fire.

[OOM: Path Untaken happens here, before any other events, as if Gorlim never came for Námo in Aman; non-Milliways continuity, but necessary for future Milliplot; the only one who has actual knowledge of these events are the cards and Mary Anne, they did not actually happen.

Mary Anne and Nerdanel talk, then Mary Anne goes to Námo, and the angsty tryst that took them by surprise. The morning after is almost tender, but obviously strange. First thread carries warnings for m/f sex.

Gorlim and Kelly seek the wayward Vala in Aman and find him, then spend the next day in bed while Nerdanel tends the children. Second thread contains minor sexual content.

One afternoon in Aman, Gorlim lightly chastizes Námo for not paying attention to Gabriel.

A peaceful night in Milliways is interrupted when Gabriel wakes from his first nightmare.

A lesson in parenting while in Aman has Gorlim encouraging Námo to make Gabriel share his toys. When that doesn't work, he teaches Gabriel a very brief lesson before Mary Anne arrives for a visit. He takes the kids upstairs while Námo and Mary Anne talk, and that is when Path Not Taken appears. Moon talks to her before Namo takes her upstairs to an empty room then leaves her and goes to bed with Gorlim. (contains blacktext)

A warm, lazy afternoon in Aman is the setting for Gabriel's first steps on his own. (contains blacktext)

Nerdanel returns home from Milliways and tells Námo about the Clock, and the Vala decides to go after Gorlim as soon as he can.]

There is a family of five walking through the bar.

Gorlim holds Kelly on his shoulder, glancing back at the stairs before Námo's hand rests on the knob. His eyes move the Vala briefly, then to Gabriel who stands at Nerdanel's side, independant as ever now that he had master walking. He sighs, then feel's Námo's hand squeeze his.

"Just until that thing goes away, love. Then you and button can come back." He smiles softly. "We did not endure all we have to lose the children in some magical quake."

"No, we didn't," he agrees.

Námo opens the door and ushers his family through into Aman, looking over his shoulder at the Clock.

He hopes it isn't the last they see of Milliways or their friends here...

Then he steps through and closes the door quietly on the bar.

He's down in the bar tonight.

Gabriel is in his highchair, his favourite foods in little bowls spread out on the tray. Námo is carefully feeding him, speaking softly to his son or laughing at something Gabriel says between bites.

This is a happy Atar.

There is a very panicked father in the bar.

There is a girl-baby on his lap playing with one of his vest buttons sulkily. This is obviously a very grumpy baby, who is NOT LEAVING HIS SIGHT. PERIOD.

He is scanning the bar for anyone who looks like a likely babynapper. FEAR!!! FEAR THE KILTED GUY WITH THE SWORD!!!

(But if you're not a babynapper, you can come chat.)

Now here's an interesting sight. Melkor sitting in a booth, cradling a small child. A child with flame-red hair and too-blue eyes. If you get close, you can hear the story he's telling the little boy.

"And then the other Valar locked Uncle Melkor in the dark forever and ever and ever. Because they were mean and didn't think that Uncle Melkor had good ideas about the way things should be. So rather than listen, they just locked him up in the dark."

"Dark bad!" squeaks Gabriel.

"Yes, that's right! Dark very bad. You wouldn't want to be locked up in the dark, would you? No, you wouldn't."

In some ways, cute Elf!baby babble is kind of like a summoning spell for parental units. Though Gorlim doesn't know it, that is the primary reason he is in the bar right now.

But that is only his mun's logic.

GORLIM thinks he's down here for apricot brandy and pretzels.

Ramon enters the bar looking happy enough (i.e smug as hell) and goes to order a burger and tequila from Bar. When both turn out to be salty, he glares at her and throws the food back down.

'Is that some sort of joke? Very fucking funny.'

No one's laughing - least of all him - when he tries to order something else but nothing at all materialises. Muttering something about prison food, he goes to sit in a booth and wait for a rat.

Damn women.

Outside by the lake is a man and a child.

The man, dressed in a faded kilt and boots, shirtless, is supporting the baby by her hands as she takes wobbling steps and swings her feet, kicking the shallow water at the very edge of the lake. She's not ready to walk on her own yet, but she can do it with her papa's help.

And on his back, there are no scars.

Things have found their way from start to end, and to a beginning. It's time to move on.

It's not his first time here. It's not his last. But he's someone who's never quite seen this world with these eyes before.

It's early afternoon, and there's a grandfather-granddaughter moment going on out by the lake.

"FIRING THREE SHOTS!"

Angela is warming up. Jack is there, making sure she's doing things correctly.

Her hands are stronger on the trigger now, and her concentration is good.

It would be a good idea to approach between shots being fired, though.

Today, Random is the sort of 'sociable' that is, quite plainly, 'distract me from what I'm thinking about before I shoot something.'

In him, it manifests as a regal, quiet stillness. The sort of still that Cesar was before he looked out at the gladiators and flicked his fingers idly and said 'this is boring, let the lions into the arena.'

It's a good cover for the frustration, actually.

[OOM: The thirteenth night - Ruin concocts a truly foul deception, and in the chaos of Gorlim's confusion, plants seeds of guilt for previously uncontemplated crimes. For all men kill the things they love, by each let this be heard: the coward does it with a kiss, the brave man with a sword. Has Gorlim managed both? [warnings for ye olde smut]

However, although men are easily fooled into believing what they see (especially when it is sitting on top of them doing some really novel things with their anatomy), Gorlim is a man who tends to believe what he wants to believe regardless of evidence to the contrary. In the past, this led him to some very destructive behaviour. Now, fortunately, because he wants to believe quite the opposite of Ruin's illusion, the spell breaks quickly, and Gorlim hurries to find Namo. They retreat to the cairn by the lake and at least one part of Ruin's falsely-implanted condemnations IS addressed, appealed, and pardoned. Other of Gorlim's conclusions remain to be addressed by persons with more authority on the subject (i.e., female), but these two, at least, are mended for the time being.

One night remains.

In the stables, in a far stall, comes the steady swish, swish, swish of a stiff-bristled brush over a mottled velvet shank, its steady rhythm interrupted on occasion by a hoof stamping the hay, a toss of a wild mane, or a soft murmur of breath through the nostrils.

And, gradually, a whisper of something like a song joins, sung by a rough, low voice, its accent heavy, its tune deep and steady.
