David is in the bar.

David has been in the bar since early this morning, before the sun had risen.

David is drinking from a steaming thermos of tea. Sweet tea, made with condensed milk, so he doesn't need to add sugar.

David didn't sleep, except in the bar last night, and he doesn't look great, but he doesn't look terrible, either.

Yamino wanders in, happy, but a little troubled. His Father will be all right soon, and everything with Echo is going splendidly, but he has a feeling something will pop up. It always does.

David didn't go home last night.

This should surprise nobody.

So finding him half-awake in one of the chairs by the fireplace, staring at the flames, should be nothing unusual.

Unless you happen to notice the bloodtears and haven't spoken to him in days.

There is a group gathered outside, braving the cold, down by a particular rock by the lake. Charlie's body is there, wrapped in several blankets and head carefully pillowed on the ground. Bartleby watches the stillness of his chest, and then looks around at everyone.

"I... you know why we're here. To-to celebrate the life of Charlie Pace, someone we all l-loved dearly." He takes a breath, and feels his eyes stinging. Pull yourself together. He deserves better. He stands up straighter. "He was so full of life that it's hard to be-believe he is now gone, and. His memory will remain. As brother, as friend, as lover, as m-m-musician.

"And. I was going to say more, but..." He closes his eyes for a second. And then begins the ritualistic prayer. "Our Father, who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy Kingdom come, thy Will be done, on Earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the Kingdom, the power and the glory, for ever and ever." He exhales, and looks around. "Amen."

He's really crying now, and he retreats back, making way for the next person.

David walks into the bar, though no one could say from where if they were asked, and makes himself comfortable in a booth after picking up some food from the cart.

He looks as though he hasn't slept, which he hasn't really, and he's also wearing yesterday's clothes.

And he looks troubled.

David walks downstairs. Last night was... interesting. And that's the easiest way to put it.

He's also more confused than ever before.

Gods, he thinks, if I ever get out of here, Lestat's books are going to be nothing compared to the one I'm going to write.

He steps up to the bar, smiling to Richard and looks around to see who else is in.

If David had ever adopted Charlie's habit of writing on his hands, today's word would be: "cautious".

Richard walks down the steps with a note in his hand. He pins it to the board before starting his shift.

ATTN: Dionysus, Holden, Bartleby, Kibeth, Gil, and Paul

I'm leaving for the weekend. I'll be gone from Friday evening til sometime on Monday. Hopefully this won't be too much trouble.

Also, we have a new arrival. There's a young boy staying in one of the attic rooms now called Donnie. He's on my tab until I can ask Bernard about what to do with him. If one of you could see that he has everything he needs I would be very grateful.

*When David walks downstairs today, his disposition is incredibly different. His step seems to have a bounce in it (almost) and he's smiling again, his dark eyes sparkling. He makes his way to the bar and sits down comfortably, smiling to the other patrons.

*He runs outside, tears in his eyes and makes his way down by the lake, staring at the night.

He's been so used to the night it doesn't bother him that the stars aren't positioned correctly. It's all he's seen here, outside with Charlie, outside when he was coming in...

A sob escapes his throat and he curses himself for being so fucking weak. Acting like a child.

Wiping his nose on the back of his sleeve, he looks out over the lake and breathes - just breathes. Richard's blood is still hot in his veins and the guilt he feels is incredible.

And Charlie - Charlie, Charlie, Charlie...

Thinking of Charlie is painful, but he can't stop.

So he sits with his head in his hands, and listens to the night as it passes slowly by*

*he almost crumples the letter in his anxiousness, but smooths it flat again, folding it and placing it in his pocket.

At lack of servers in the Bar, he orders directly*

Bar, dear, would you please give me the strongest alcohol you have? Mixed with the second strongest.

*the Bar quivers for a moment, but a second later a strange blue-and-green concotion, frothing slightly, appears with a cherry and an umbrella*

*he drops a few coins on the top, and looks around, clearly waiting for something to happen*

The door swings open, and in lumbers a ten-foot-tall gorilla. Wearing a diving helmet. With radio antennae. He makes a proclamation in a somber monotone, apparently to the bar at large.

"People of Earth! I am Ro-Man. I come to inform you that your puny planet will be destroyed so that my people may have dominion over the universe. In all our explorations of all the cosmos, you are the only other intelligent life. You are our only competitors. Surrender now and you will have the mercy of a quick death. Resist me, and you will suffer the agony of molecular evaporation from our atomic Z-rays, which are far beyond your limited ability to understand."

Ro-Man waits expectantly for the pleading to begin.
