Some guys run hot and cold. You never know where you are with them till you get them going, till you're able to get a reaction.

Some guys are Jet, and they run like that-- but on a slightly higher level. They know how they run, but even worse, they know how you run. Jet's that kind of guy-- cravin' a little -- trouble. There's no fights here. No scams to run, no plays to make, no rebellions to run, no enemy to defeat. There's nothing. There's just killing time-

The Sharpie was gone, but Katara's leathers are missing, and in their place is an elaborate black outfit, with a fancy mask and wig, along with a very fine hat.

Oh, and a cape.

Honestly, it could totally be worse.

There is a tiny little renegade coming down the stairs, enigmatic smile permanently pasted on. Some of the movie-goers from Earth might be delighted to see her.

Makita's not in the cells right now, but while she was she had one final round of visitors.

Henry stops by again and there is plotting. Snowball type plotting. Rapunzel assures Makita that she's strong enough to control her temper. Wells explains a bit about why he's upset, and offers some pointers on not lashing out. Jet isn't really worried about her, and they talk about Katara. Steph* brings chocolate. Kira* offers to teach Makita to sew.

If you meant to talk to Makita while she was in the cells, well, she won't turn down your company now that she's out.

* these two threads are still in slowtime, but by noting them now this becomes the last Makita cells report post.

You know, there's nothing like a weekend of near-naked fun with your girlfriend to put you into an excellent emotional place.

And then, you find out when you belly up to the bar... that your buddy's in the cells. This just doesn't make you happy anymore. So there's Jet, musing over the dichotomy.

Girlfriend? Great. Buddy? Not so great.

Dammit.

He'll have to shakedown a security member to get access to the cells or something. Maybe bring some dice so she doesn't get bored.... teach her some Earth Kingdom games or something!

Later. After food. And finding somebody with a badge.

The water is warm, almost too warm to be refreshing, and sparkles in the early afternoon sun as the squid frolics in the distance.

It's the perfect temperature for swimming, and the sun is the perfect temperature to make one need to swim.

So come on in. The water's fine.

Katara inna snow.

Actually, she's not in a single snow, but all of it together, really, out by the lake and practicing again. Without the puppet-patrons, the bar is a lot more peaceful, but without puppet-Aang, Katara is reminded to keep up with her practicing. She has to train the Avatar after all!

She started out very dedicated, it's just-- a few hours of that and she's sitting back amid the snow, juggling snowballs.

Whee!

So.

Jet's realized this place is a little... odd.

Because most of the bar's patrons are made of felt now. This is strange, but enjoyable. Cause, y' know. THey're all kind of funny looking and Jet could use a laugh right now. So that's what he's doing. Watching felt people flop around the bar and stuff? It gets a chuckle here and there.

Makita's been in the same booth for the past twenty hours. Sleeping.

Which isn't really an odd sight, she'd been doing it for nearly a month before she went home. Observant people might notice that this time there's not a pistol set on the table next to her, and that she's surprisingly unaware of her surroundings. Where before she might have woken up enough to peek through cracked eyelids at anyone who walked nearby, now she is... well... snoring.

But even exhausted people can only sleep for so long, and twenty hours is a long time. She'll be waking up any minute now.

There is a fox outside by the lake demonstrating that not only weres are vulnerable to the effects of a full moon. He's scampering in mad circles, kicking up snow and then pouncing it, biting, shaking his head, rolling...

He's having a ball.

It was almost routine now. Shirtless, shoeless, and a little sweaty, Aang came into the bar from the latest cleared chakra, got a t-shirt, shoes that flashed little lights every time he took a step, and a real meal of vegetables, fruit and nuts.

Then he wandered around looking for somebody to ~~bother~~ talk to.

Guru Pahtik had said: "If you are to be a positive influence on the world...you need to forgive yourself."

Self? Forgiven.

Now he had to be a positive influence on the world--everywhere he went, if he could--and it was starting to look easier and easier.

Following Makita's advice, Smellerbee's spent the past few nights in Bar waiting for Jet when he finally did show up. She's moved to a few different tables trying to find a good vantage point. And when she got tired, she curled up in a booth and went to sleep.

Which is what she's doing now.

Bother if you wish, but be gentle (because Freedom Fighter instincts never go away).

After hitting up bar for a change of clothing, Jet went upstairs, showered and changed, and came downstairs, and wrote down a little list of things for bar. She produced some equipement that was familiar and some that wasn't. A lantern, a heavy duty sleeping bag, a rolled up tent, and a heavy pack. He settled those things down, and then ordered a large dinner and some hot tea to drink, before he settled in at a booth.
I don't want to jump into something that I want and then lose you completely later, if I can just-- be your friend, no matter what happens.
Bad idea to start a journey without some food in your belly -- even if you were just gonna go poke about in the woods rather then, y' know, deal with your problems.
So don't you dare compare trying to kill my brother with me trying to keep you from feeling the way she does because I've watched her hurt!"
Doesn't mean he doesn't constantly get lost in thought, though-- poking at his food as he sits at his booth, moving things around on the plate with his chopsticks.
Jet-- wait!
He doesn't wait to wait anymore. He's not sure what he's waiting for now, anyway-- that's the problem.

She doesn't know why she came to Milliways. She has names to track down, fences to find, a career to save, hot grab in her pocket.

But she also has blood on her hands, splattered all over her shirt, and anger and betrayal burning in her chest and stomach. There's no way she can have a conversation with fences right now.

So she came to Milliways, but doesn't stop. She just strides through the bar and out into the snow, at a quick, irritable pacing gait, looking for something to take it out on.

Yesterday was too surprising. Today, Katara's looking for normal things to balance it out.

Outside, warm in her parka and boots, Katara is standing amidst the snow, practicing her Waterbending with it. It's nothing really impressive, waving her arms, moving her legs, unless you think advanced levels of Tai Chi are cool.

Or moving water with your mind. One of the two.

[Elsewhere, before Milliways: Jet and company set sail! -- or at least, leave the past behind and move forward with hope for a new beigninng...]

The station at Ba Sing Se is PACKED with people. There are, without a doubt, twelve avatar impersonators, a couple of Katara's (not a single Sokka; not that he cares, but it makes Jet feel a little better) and... well, the hungry, unwashed masses of Ba Sing Se's refugees.

His papers are old, rumpled -- they came off a corpse, but that doesn't matter. The dead guy didn't need them anymore, and he and his friends did. They buried the guy! So, you know, it was payment for the sweat and the dirt. But it gets them ushered into the waiting area for the next ferry.

With their scant money, he heads into a store, looking over the few coppers, and --

-- wait. Was that a rat?

Jet stops and blinks, staring at the place that stretches out before him. This...

...this is not the last stop cafe, last he saw. What the hell, man?

"...yeah, so, I know we're diverse and all, but I'm pretty sure we're not this diverse..."
