Solo Voyage
It's been a very long, hassle-filled day. Chief is largely a job of knocking down problems, big and small. Today, it was all about problems that were just petty. And there's no Henry out in the bullpen, no glimpses to give her a little sense of calm for reasons she wouldn't have been able to explain before last night. It's just not been her day.
So she slips out, tells the rookie on desk duty that she's going to find some lunch, and at the steps, makes a quick decision. Not out into the sunshine, but down to the evidence room and through the door, and back to Milliways.
The lurking concept of time in the real world waiting for her to come back is just a little too great a temptation today.
She steps up to the bar, gets herself a coffee, and goes to find herself a seat at a table where she can put up her feet and just have a break from it all.
[OOC: Plot is lurking, but open.]

More interestingly to him, he's enjoying watching her simply exist. Knowing that she isn't worried about work or Iris or what's going on with her personal life - for that time, she's just existing. It's amazing.
He'd done a little exploring himself, but mostly relaxed and tucked into a cinnamon roll and a cup of coffee, and when he sees her sitting alone, he comes up behind her and whispers in her ear; "Don't look now, but I think you're being watched."

The realization that it was Henry was nearly instant, which is good, because her first inclination might've been a physical reaction rather than a joke.
She peers over her shoulder. "Oh wait, here's one now."
no subject
He slides into the seat beside her and gestures toward a waitrat skittering by with a cup of coffee on a tray. "I could use another coffee, what about you?"
no subject
"Coffee and the best of company." She gives his hand a squeeze. "I didn't expect to see you, but I'm so glad to."
no subject
"I came this morning and wanted to check into the viability of setting up something a little special."
no subject
She leans in closer, too. Why not? She knows Gus and Juliet are both elsewhere, and that limits the chances of Shawn showing up. She's willing to take the chance.
no subject
"I don't know, depends on if you'd rather be surprised or not."

Besides, everyone knows first you treat a woman like a person - and then like a princess = and then a goddess before treating her like a person again. She's definitely in the 'princess' area.
"You're fun to spoil."
no subject
It's been a long time since someone made her feel special. She doesn't want to let it go to her head.
"You'll have to let me spoil you some too, you know."
no subject
After a gentle sip, he says; "I think this weekend, you and I should sleep together." It's not nearly the come on it sounds like and before she can react, he clarifies; "Here, in one bed - catching a weekend of nice, long rest before going back home."
no subject
Her smile broadens.
"Here's where I decide between teasing and melting. I'll let you decide which reaction you prefer if you choose in the next, oh," she glances at her wristwatch, "ten seconds or so."
no subject
"Or melting, if I have to choose."
no subject
It's not really possible.
"I think you just fizzled my teasing, but that's okay, you stoked the melting." She rests her palm against his cheek. "I want to wake up in your arms so much, Henry. See you when I open my eyes."
no subject
And when she speaks, he's glad he didn't... he wouldn't want to have missed that.
"I can't think of a better way to spend the morning." He smiles wider, nuzzling against her for a much deeper kiss.
Screw it, if Shawn's lucky enough to wander in at that moment, he deserves it.
no subject
It takes her a little while to pull away, and it's only because if she doesn't, she won't.
"You're the best, you really are."
no subject
He blushes slightly, looking down at his coffee before glancing back up at her eyes; "I have a damn good reason to be."
no subject
She's only half-kidding. Henry is one of the most solid people she's ever known.
no subject
It's easy to say, even with what it implies disguised as a joke. "So,.does that mean its a date? Me, you, a private room at the end of the universe and no need to leave until we're ready?"
no subject
"It's so very much a date, I want to go put on my sexy red dress and the strappy heels that match."
no subject
"Yeah, you put on a sexy red dress and I'm pretty sure my head'll explode."
no subject
"Have we discussed how very little I'd enjoy it if you exploded?"
no subject
"Yeah, well... maybe I'll make sure it comes off rather quickly."
Not that it would help matters in that particular area. And he really really shouldn't be picturing that in public.
no subject
She can be evil when the results are so very, very adorable.
no subject
"How soon can this happen?" He grins wildly, his voice a low purr.
