It is a magic day, in troth, that changed the bar this much
And offers change to any that may enter;
So does Ned Poins.

He will now choose a shape
From those that are on offer, and quite soon,
There is a great and rangy golden hound
Sprawled out upon a couch near to the furnace,
Taking up all the place, and fast asleep.

Trouble at thine own danger!

And now there's a tiny girl with blue snakeskin boots and matching gloves gently lifting his couch and moving him backward.

"Sorry," she says, setting a large bag of Legos on the floor in front of his new spot. "I couldn't get to the furnace while wearing my wings."

Good question! Completely oblivious to the dog in distress behind her, she digs through the bag of plastic building materials and quickly starts assembling something.

Autor glances up and then back down at her work. "So are you a real dog or someone transfigured?"

Sometimes animals can speak during Cubefall, she's learned.

Autor reaches out with a gloved hand, and, if given permission, scratches him behind the ear. "I'd ask how it is, being an animal, but you can't answer me, can you?" she says, smiling. "You looked fairly comfortable on that couch."

"Er," she says apologetically, and lays a hand on her cheek. "I'll put you back as soon as I'm done?"

Then she tilts her head. "Actually, did you want me to build anything for you, as a way to make up for it?"

[personal profile] herr_bookman 2013-06-06 11:15 pm (UTC)(link)

"Oh, no," she says, grinning sheepishly. "Now I have to figure out what to make you. A collar would just be silly. As would a water dish."

Laughing, she holds her hands up. "Any suggestions?"

It takes her a bit to get it. But she does, eventually, and crouches down to work on a ball.

Big mistake. Of sorts. The dog is taller than her at this angle, and easily outweighs her. There's that latent terror of being a prey-thing which he never managed to shake off.

"Do you like being a dog?" she asks, to distract herself.

In response, Autor tosses the newly-made, bigger-than-her-hand rubber ball to the floor near him.

Unfortunately, the ball bounces so well that it flies straight up into the rafters, slams one, and comes back down like a ballistic missile.

Er... Oops? she thinks, diving out of the way.

"Oh, no," she says, and moves to him while trying to avoid the still-bouncing projectile. "Are you all right?"

[personal profile] herr_bookman 2013-06-07 01:28 am (UTC)(link)

"Ah," she says, flustered. "I'm sorry."

She'd fly him up in the rafters, but the ball is bouncing around in there. So she hops over to bar and orders a net to catch the thing. A few minutes and a considerable amount of damage later, she turns to the dog.

"We should head outside, I think."

Autor gets over to the door faster than he does. She glances over her shoulder with a smile to see if he follows, and then opens the door to the grounds.

"Well, here we are," she announces unnecessarily. "You've probably been outside before as a humanoid or energy being or whatever you are normally, but I bet it's completely different different as a dog."

Which cracks this girl.right up. "You're just a big puppy, aren't you?" she says, wondering if this person is as giddy normally, or if that's the Cubefall effect. She's in a pretty good mood herself.

"What do you smell out here?" she asks, as if he could tell her.

If he takes off, she'll follow. If he stays, she stays.

In the meantime, he's hilarious to watch, so she's fairly content to watch him bound around.
