Mirai had been warned about Halloween hijinx, but she wasn't warned about the method in which it would manifest. She skitters off balance when her outfit shifts completely, her cardigan and dress giving way to-
".......really?! How unpleasant," she swears at the bandages covering her from head to toe.
Hey, can't go wrong with the classics, right?

"I do accept your apology, Autor-senpai. A-and thank you for trying so hard. It- it's a little frustrating that it doesn't always work, but I do notice it..."

Autor thinks for a moment. What would Rae order?
After a shy grin at Mirai, he turns to the rat. "Two shpinach shaladsh with feta, two bowlsh of shquash shoup with rye bread, two--no, three servings of eggplant lashagna, and two bowlsh of hazhelnut gelato. Also some cheeshe for yourshelf," the boy says, and turns to her again. "Do you have a drink preferenche, Miss Kuriyama?"

"Oh that... all of that sounds so pleasant. Ah, Italian soda would go with it? Maybe strawberry?"
She glances up to the television and points it out, going, "Ah, they're showing scary movies."

He tilts his head at the television. "Ah? 'Monshter-A-Go-Go'? Intereshting. Want to watch it together?" he asks, and then blushes the slightest bit. He points to the seat. "Um, do you mind?"

"I-is that enough space?"

It's around here that they receive the first part of their large, delicious meal.
"...actually, it might be easier to stay there to retrieve all of the food."

The Mystery Science Theater 3000 starts up, and Autor brightens. "Oh, I know this! They make fun of terrible movies. Excellent."

Mirai brings her salad closer and digs in, watching as they progress into the Invention Exchange.
"This is a regular thing? These parts with the robots? And they'll show the movie in the middle?"
But her bemusement disappears in the face of such good food.

The movie starts out with a 'circus on ice', with a dry narrator straight out of 50s educational videos. Three dozen people in costumes glide across the ice, amidst the robot's snark.
Then come the two girls in tutus. "These two girls they make quite the pair," one robot sings, "They both come from your worst nightmare! They will haunt your soul forever! And now, when you see pink, you're gonna think, 'we're doomed!'"
Autor sniggers into his food, managing a grin at Mirai. "Like that."

The section on ballet skating amuses him as well, given his acquaintance with ballerinas.
"Too bad this isn't the age of talent," one of the robots says, and Autor smiles a little.
Monster-A-Go-Go proper starts, and a man staggers towards a nebula while a drumline plays. The credits roll, and the robots snark. "This is gonna suck."

"At least they're as lost as us," Mirai comments as the movie starts. "How long did this run?"
She gives an undignified snort in her drink at the casual dismissal of the opening narration. So let's forget about it now, indeed.

The boy finishes his salad, and just in time, too. He reaches for his and her soups, and passes hers to her. Two government agents check out a burnt astronaut's reentry capsule on the screen, which doesn't look big enough to hold a person, setting up the plot properly.
"Douglas was pear-shaped, very short, and stood the whole way!"
