Super Sneaky!! Stealth! First Entrance

Soooomeoooone left a doooor open when they went through to Milliways!

...So maybe Steven jammed his foot in the door before it could close. And he knows he's not supposed to be here, not exaaactly, but he wasn't told he couldn't come! He was told " maybe later", after Pearl and Garnet checked it out. And it's later!

Okay, he's not supposed to be here. He knows it. So he's going to walk in very sneakily, on tiptoe. He's a short kid, and his pink shirt isn't too bright, right? He'll just be keeping to The Shadows, just a quick reconnais-- recon-- mission to see what's up, here. Keeping out of the way of Enemy Surveillance. And Garnet and Pearl who are, yikes, right over there by the fireplace.

At least until he gets distracted, probably. Or someone notices a kid in bright clothing dancing around the edges of the room.

Somebody's spotted Steven! That somebody is red and white, with big, pointy ears, and a long, curly tail. He's got a baseball bat in his mouth, and this tiny human looks like the sort who likes to play!

Buster makes a conspicuous 'whuff' sound around the bat to get Steven's attention.

Awww, a puppy! (All dogs are puppies!) Steven grins at him and waves enthusiastically, then lowers his voice into a stage whisper. " Hey there, buddy! Are you visiting here too?"

Stealthy. Playing with a dog will be very stealthy.

Super stealthy! Especially when Buster tosses his baseball bat into the air, and smacks himself in the face with it.

Steven immediately and completely forgets stealth, and rushes over to the dog. "Oh no! Are you all right?" Poor puppy!

Buster barks at the baseball bat, like it meant to smack him in the face. But when Steven comes over, he forgets about being angry with it, and starts sniffing around Steven's pockets for snacks.

Tiny humans always seem to have snacks. Steven has snacks, right?

Someone does notice! Someone in floofy layers of skirts and sleeves and ringlets, with a small and shaggy grey dog on her lap.

But she's well acquainted with the look of children being VERY SNEAKY, even if she's mostly used to it in convent school girls. (And street urchins, but they don't look so colorful and well-fed, and even the jauntiest have a somewhat different sort of cheer about life.) So she's watching with a smile that's mostly stifled, but not entirely.

She's not inclined to rat him out, but she is inclined to keep an eye on him. Just in case.

Steven catches her watching, and beams at her, immediately forgetting Stealth. She's so pretty! She has such a pretty dress! And such a great little dog! He waves happily at the very poofy-dressed lady.

SUCH STEALTH.

Cosette's attempt to hide a smile has become an attempt to hide a laugh, but she does smile brightly back, and lift one lace-gloved hand in reply. Waving isn't a particularly customary gesture to her, but the principle's pretty clear.

Panza pants at him happily, which is maybe kind of like a wave?

...okay he can't resist a puppy *and* a friendly wave, and doesn't even try. He comes over, smiling like a kid who's never met anyone that wasn't a friend. "What a cute puppy! Is she yours?"

"Why, yes!" Aww, what a sweet and extremely exuberant kid! "Her name is Panza. Would you like to meet her?"

What is this, a children's school? First there was Jim, with his computers, and now there's...this...person? Dancing around the edges of the room like he's trying to...........hide?

Granted, Jim had turned out to be an entertaining kid. So Loki watches the antics for a little while. And then starts (helpfully! he's a helper!) adding a few illusory corners and booths around the edges of the room for the kid to lurk behind.

"Gasp!" Yes he actually says Gasp when the furniture starts rearranging.

And then he grins and starts diving and rolling and moving around the variable cover. Loki may notice he's making some pretty impressive jumps, for a human kid!

--And one of them takes him directly into Loki's line of sight. Eye contact! Eye contact isn't Stealth! But Steven tries to look nonchalant, with notably little success.

Loki is tragically unable to appreciate the awesomeness of the jumps, being unfamiliar with human children's gymnastic standards! But he can appreciate that it's hilarious, thank you. Hey, how does the kid feel about a narrow chasm opening up in the floor to jump over? That's a funny game too, right?

Oh, uh, hey. Eye contact. Loki raise his eyebrows and nods.

It is a funny game! Steven is undeterred by minor chasms! He looks around with what is very obviously the wariness of a child who is avoiding Parental Guidance, and then smiles at Loki. "Does this happen all the time?" He sounds entirely pleased at the prospect of transforming rooms.

"...Should it?" He's not offering to make it happen all the time, he's just curious.

Especially now that the kid is closer. There's a sense of power about him, reminding Loki of--someone he's met here, he can't put a finger on it just yet. Those first meetings are a little unclear in his mind.

Pinkie Pie mostly notices Steven when he comes sneaking because they're roughly the same height. It's hard not to notice

She's also a couple of shades pinker than Steven's shirt, which might be the first thing he notices when she pops right into his line of sight.

"Hi!" she says chipperly, in a loud stage whisper.

She's so colorful! Steven grins at his new sneaking partner. "Hi!" he says back, in an only slightly quieter stage whisper. "Are you hiding too?"

"That's great! Where's a good place to look around without being seen?"

Yes, he's trusting Pinkie's self- description implicitly.

"Ooh, there's the rafters and the library and the kitchen and this really neat tree near the stables and this one spot under the table on the other side of the room where I have my emergency paper plane stash! But that's only for emergencies," she hastens to add.

Steven's discovery that Bar can (a) produce any food and (b) in any amount has gone about as well as such a discovery would for any sugar-loving kid. At least among all the empty milkshake glasses and plates of pancakes there's evidence that a sandwich happened at some point.

He has stopped worrying if the Gems might find him, and begun worrying that --horrors!--he might not have room to finish this last ice cream sundae. Clearly, the worst thing ever.

That's definitely Pearl. And definitely Pearl's horrified mom-voice.

That is clearly Garnet's 'I should have expected this but I am still disappointed but mostly relieved nothing worse happened' voice.

Steven sits as much at attention as he can manage. 'Hi!...Guys!...It's really nice in here, isn't it? Hah, look, Bar made sure I had lunch!" And several weeks' worth of dessert! "So, uh. How's it goin'? "

If he doesn't say he messed up maybe they'll forget he did! That's how it works, totally!
