Ray makes his way down the stairs, yawning and rubbing at his face with one hand. He's wearing his usual black company T-shirt and matching cargoes and a pair of- ghasp!- fuzzy slippers with no licensed characters on them at all.

And he's got a fairly hefty red book under his arm, which he sits down to read once he's acquired breakfast from the Bar. The title, to the keen-eyed, is Unpleasant Things It Is Sometimes Necessary To Know.

If KARR was paying attention to the book's title, he might find it suitable. But he's not; instead, his attention is on Ray as he drives up, parking close by. "Hello, Ray."

Ray looks up at the sound, blinking. "Oh- hi, Karr. How's it going? Congratulations, by the way."

"Mm? Oh. Thank you." He sighed to himself, his scanner flicking rapidly in annoyance. "It's not going well. Bonnie was shot-I thought I ought to tell you, considering the fact that you are a friend."

Ray blinked, several times. "Shot? Mother of Mares- who did it? Is she okay? How bad was it?"

"That idiot woman who threatened to shoot me before did it-and aside from her shoulder, she's in one piece, at least. If security hadn't tackled that idiot, we might both dead now." He turned, pointing his prow towards the stairs. "She's resting now upstairs now, though-the painkillers seem to help somewhat."

Ray snorts. "Charming. Does the idiot woman have a name, in case she gets released? I want to be sure to keep an eye on her when she gets released back into the population."

"I don't know her name, but I can give you an idea what she looks like." A door swung open, and one of the screens inside Karr's cabin clicked on. A moment later, a picture of Starbuck appeared. "That would be her."

Ray leaned over for a look, then nodded. "Okay. I'll keep her in mind. Thanks for the heads-up- anybody that psycho isn't going to go for me talking about Ecto."

His expression was a little guilty. He hadn't been home in some time.

"I doubt it. She's convinced we're Cylons, and is too stupid to understand that we aren't. I don't want to think about what might happen whenever she gets release."

His scanner paled slightly at that thought, although it conmtinued moving swiftly.

"One more reason for me to learn unarmed combat," Ray mutters. "Okay. Good to know. How charming."

"I would have run her over and ended the whole thing, but Bonnie gave me the order to stop." His scanner sped up as he grumbled, "Maybe next time..."

"Try taking her on in human form," Ray said. "Arm wrestling, maybe. Hard for security to see that as an attack, and you still get to make it hard for her to use a gun again."

"I'm not taking human form around her if I can avoid it," he said flatly. "She probably has more than one gun, and even if she didn't, she might just try to stab me, strangle me, or do something else. The idiot is bent on killing anyone mechanical or who defends them, it seems."

Guppy takes one look at Ray and passes the coffee.

"Tough night Ray?"

Ray accepts the coffee. "Tough everything-since-the-twenty-eighth, actually," he says with a grateful nod. "We have this half-ghost kid in the bar who's a real nice kid, but some adda-murub named Blodwen Rowlands managed to whistle up his dark side and turn him evil. Peter and Egon and I are doing guard duty on him in shifts until we can figure out how to find his friends and sister and set him right again. How're you?"

Guppy winces. "Peter mentioned some of it. Good luck with it. Anything I can do to help? I'm no ghostbuster but I know a little about sedatives and anaesthetics if that's any good to you."

Maybe the question 'How're you' would be best left for now.

"Nah, won't be necessary. He doesn't go solid for long enough for anything to affect him, and I've already had some sleep compensators issued to me for purposes of making sure I can function on less sleep than usual if I absolutely have to. I haven't taken them yet and I don't plan to except in an emergency." He sips the coffee. "Thank you, though."

"What about gas-based sedatives? I'm just thinking that if you guys are stuck in a room with an evil half-ghost things could get a bit hairy."

He sips his own coffee. "I'm planning on spending a few days here soon to get away from home for a bit. Do you want any help with the shifts? Like I said, I don't know anything about ghosts but I could keep an eye on him for you if you want a bit of a break."
Somehow he doesn't like the sound of sleep compensators.

"Won't help," Ray says. "He's not physical. There are no sedatives that work on ectoplasmic entities that haven't taken on a biological form."

He leans back in his chair. "Won't be necessary. We've got three people handling the situation. That gives me eight hours in which to sleep and eat and take care of other necessities. I just have to make sure to piddle and stuff before I go into the room with him. Thanks, though."

He's not about to let anyone else into the room with Danny, not without experience with that kind of thing.

Guppy didn't think Ray would want him in there, but that doesn't stop him wishing he could help. He smiles.

"No problem. If you think of anything I can do to help, just let me know."

He sips his coffee. "How's Peter doing? Last time I saw him he was kipping on the sofas down here."

"Kind of run down himself," Ray says. "Dana threw him out of the bedroom until he stops being such a dweeb, plus he's helping with the guard duty."

Guppy nods. "I sort of guessed that. I lent him my spare room key in case he wants to crash there for a while but I don't know if he's using it. I don't sleep there that often, and even so I'm on nights at the moment."

He sips his coffee, his brain suddenly registering something.

"Egon's here? When did he turn up?"

"Some time back, actually- I'm surprised you haven't seen him yet. It's not my Egon. It's the Egon from the animated continuum. Blond hair that looks like it was designed by someone Gary Glitter fired for being too weird."

"I probably wouldn't have recognised him from the film then. I don't think I've seen him. Is he around at any normal time of day?"

Normal being GMT, naturally.

"For you? No. He's taking night shifts, mostly, so you wouldn't be anywhere near here when he's in."

Speaking of not being here, I'm out sick from work today, but I have to go get some soup and pay my rent. I'll be back later.
