Alice has been around. But sometimes she's a watchful creature more than a willful one, so she hasn't been visible to the people who walk around and chat and are happy and that you can see. Odds are she's been in some small nook paying quiet attention to you and yours.
Tonight, however, she has decided to be one of those who walks around and chats with others. With a kitchen knife in her hand that's as long as her forearm.
