Mal is back for his second straight appearance, but this time with a purpose - he's going out to the stables. He hasn't checked on Tequila in longer than he would like. This is why he's picking up a thermos of cocoa before he goes out in the cold.

He's got a smile on his face though, so if you catch him he'll be in a good mood.

[OOC: will be slow for a bit, but am also working on slowtimes from last night.]

"You know what I'm speakin' on, niao - don't play like that, or I might not let you make fun o' me anymore.

"I have hot chocolate?"

Raven tweaks his nose.

"It is almost cute, I think, that you believe I require permission."

Something flickers in her eyes at the mention of hot chocolate, then she grins.

"It is better for your hands, perhaps."

Mal grumps. "You sound like my mother."

Mal, thermos in hand, starts to move toward the door leading to the stables, rubbing his nose absently with his free hand.

"This is not a surprise, perhaps."

Raven follows Mal closely.

"I am very old, after all."

"'M so happy you ain't ever met her yet - you two would get along too well for my own health."

Moving along the trail to the stables, "S'pose I should mention me completing some knitting projects on my own recently. I got you to blame for all o' that."

There is a slight pause to her steps at the mention of knitting, but then she keeps moving.

"The knitting? Or the finishing? I am not sure which I prefer blame for, perhaps."

"Both, I think - I wouldn't've ever learned to make stuff like that, weren't for a birthday present."

She laughs.

"Most things are useful."

Beat.

"Eventually."

"I am *always* useful, Niao."

Indicating the stable door, he opens it for her as they continue toward Tequila, who is staring at Mal with a 'Where the hell have you been?' glare.

"Just depends on what my uses are."

Raven eyes him up and down.

"Possibly a foot rest. When you are sleeping."

Yeah. That.

Exactly.

Mal is almost indignant.

"I am better 'n a foot rest. Although I have been told I am quite comfortable."

Beatific grinning.

"It is a good thing, to be described so?"

Innocent blinking.

"I had thought earth-moving was preferential."

A shrug.

"That's what you've got shovels for."

Raven tilts her head, considering.

"Now that, I think, is a very interesting preference."

"Shovels are very useful things, really - you can hit people with 'em, dig holes to bury them in..."

"Shovels require funerals?"

Raven blinks.

Possibly she is being annoying on purpose.

Mal somehow doesn't care.

"Buryin' the people you hit with the shovels, so's to get 'em in the holes."

"Mostly cliffs are useful. And birds."

This is very true.

"Birds, I rarely find uses for."

Raven is abruptly much smaller and clinging to Mal's leg.

"Children, also?"

He sounds like he might cry.

Good thing Mal can't see his face, buried as it is in Mal's knee.

"Waaaaah!" Mal screeches in a most undignified manner.

Inhale.

Exhale.

"Raven, why are you a little person and holding onto my leg?"
