She didn't know she could make the sort of noise she just did, at that touch. She didn't know, she thinks hazedly, that anything could feel quite like this, either.

"And this," voice breaking a little, "is where I stop knowing what to do."

"Let me help," he says, and slides his hand under the material, gentle and warm and presses kisses to her throat while his other hand goes to her hair, stroking it gently.

Lying this close to her, his heart thuds into his ribs, and he wonders, dizzily, whether she can feel it too.

Lucy groans, a little, and forgets for the moment to feel awkward. Forgets everything except how good he feels on her skin, and murmurs his name against his hair.

He catches his breath at the sound, and lifts his head to look up at her, and his eyes are wide and darkening when he reaches up to pull the strap over her shoulder, and then the other, dropping a kiss onto her bare shoulder before slipping his hand up under the material again.

Her hands are shaking, a little, as she slips it off one arm, then pulls out the other, and drops it beside her, arms going around his neck.

Because really, she has to put them somewhere, she feels, and the urge to cross them over her chest may be instinctive, but it's also not exactly helpful.

His arms go around her waist, and he kisses her, feeling her heart beating wildly in her chest--or is it his?--and it feels like he can't get close enough, even though he feels he might crush her if he holds her much tighter or moves further above her.

The taste of her is incredible, and he can't seem to get enough, kissing her again and again.

In between kisses there are gasps, for breath and for other reasons, and Lucy understands, a little, what Susan said about it being a dance, and thinks of swimming, too, because it's the only other time she thinks she's held her breath this long.

Raggedly, words broken by kisses and taking longer than any sentence should to say, "Remind me to thank Lilly."

He lifts himself up far enough to laugh, and to catch his breath.

"If you don't, I will," he says, fervently, and looks down at her, all flushed and shining eyes and glowing golden hair.

"You're beautiful," he says, and it's almost a discovery, because no matter how beautiful Lucy had been before, she is lovely now beyond words.

"We both can," she grins, and then her smile fades into a softer kind as she props herself up on her elbows to kiss him, gently, on the corner of the mouth.

You can say a lot with a kiss like that.

You can, it's true.

And when Caspian kisses her back, softly, wrapping an arm around her waist, he echoes it.

And then he rolls so that he is on his back, and it's Lucy who is looking down at him, and smiles up at her, not quite guilelessly.

She laughs, a little surprised, and then drops her forehead to his, for a moment, smiling, before shifting to kiss his neck.

"It's only fair," he explains, or tries to, anyway, before she kisses his neck and he tilts his head back, helplessly, his hands smoothing up her back.

Skin is good, he thinks, and he marvels at how smooth her back is, and how the muscles shift when she does.

"Oh, well," against his skin as she moves her mouth lower, down his neck to his collarboan, "I try to be fair, you know." Her hand smoothes over his chest til she feels his heartbeat, and then she moves again to press a kiss right above it, slowly.

"For the most part," he says, except it comes out as more of a gasp.

His hand slides down her side, and over her hip.

"Do you know," he says, in an attempt at conversational that falls completely flat, as he tries to catch his breath, "how hard it has been for me to not do this, these past night when you've stayed with me?"

It takes her a moment to catch her breath before she can answer, and even when she does she knows her voice is nowhere near normal. "A little," moving to kiss his stomach now before looking back at him, "I think." Another shift, and then Lucy looks down at him, pushing his hair back after a moment.

He makes a soft sound at the kiss, and then moves one hand to her hair when she pulls herself back up.

"Especially after Lilly's advice," he says, smiling, and leans into her touch. His other hand trails over her back, and along her waistband.

"Well," she says after a moment, "Lilly gives very good advice. Brilliant advice, actually," kissing his forehead. "Everyone should listen to Lilly."

"Especially us," Caspian says, seriously.

Except for the part where he isn't serious at all.

"I will never doubt her again."

He considers this.

"Actually, that probably isn't true." But talking about Lilly is not really precisely what he wants to do, which is to kiss Lucy, so he lifts himself up far enough to kiss her thoroughly.

She laughs into his mouth while she can, and then when she's lost the breath just kisses him in return, one arm going around his neck.

"I'll never doubt her being right on this," Lucy manages after pulling away for a moment, and then kisses him again with a murmured, "Never."

"Wanted this," he murmurs, into her mouth, and rolls so that he can bend down and move along her neck, along her collarbone.

"Wanted you."

His mouth moves along the curve of her collarbone, while the hand not at her waist smoothes up over her side and over the swell of her breast.

"So much."

"You have me." And it's good, and when she shudders she closes her eyes, and it's good that way too. "Al--always."

One of Lucy's hands rests on top of his on her hip and squeezes after a minute.

He leans forward to kiss her closed eyes, and her mouth, and then slides down, kissing down her neck and down her ribcage, and he spends a little time discovering the places that make her shiver when he kisses them, and where will make her bite back her breath, and his mouth moves over the dip to her stomach and to her side.

She tastes warm, and a little salty, and he thinks he never wants to stop, running his hand down her side, over her hip and down her leg.

She's not entirely certain she can even move at this point, because she can't even keep her breathing near even when that's the only thing she's trying to do.

"Oh, don't stop, please," even though she's certain he won't.

He laughs, low and rumbling in his chest, and kisses along her waistband and her side, where he knows she's ticklish.

But this is not tickling, and when he pulls himself up to lay along her side, his hand trails up her leg and pauses at her hip, thumb moving in slow circles, and he presses a kiss to her shoulder, and to her neck.

It's not tickling, though she squirms anyway.

"How on earth did I manage to live a life and miss this entirely?" kissing his neck in turn.

It's a moment where she bites her lip before her hand rests on the one at her hip and she very carefully hooks his thumb over her waistband, lips moving up his neck to ear as she does so.
