Lando sits at the Bar, an invitation in front of him. An invitation to Jaina Solo's wedding. This week. Or 30 years in the future.
The temptation to see his future up close is great. Coruscant, in all its glory, free of the Empire. Imagine what he could learn about trends and markets in just an hour. And he could see himself as he will be.
But even Lando, no physicist or philosopher, doubts seeing the future that closely is a good thing. If nothing else, how would the two Landos explain their presence to old (indeed, much older) friends?
So instead, Lando will attend the reception here, and wait to attend the wedding. In the meantime, he hs figure out what cape to wear, and to see if Amanda can join him.
And all the while, he wouldn't mind some conversation.

He doesn't look entirely pleased.

"It's one of the New York publications," he says tightly. It's not a pleasant experience, seeing one's exploits splattered across the society pages for everyone to read.

"We get all our information through datastreams and the occasional holovid. Paper is quite rare, though some people still like printed books." And once in a while, Lando does write things down, since you can't hack into a sheet of paper.

Jack and Jennifer Spencer, writer of the society article "Mr. Driscoll's New Flame," were going to have words when he returned to the city.

"And that you enjoy seeing yourself in the public eye as much as I do. You have my sympathies.

"But then, I also have never let what other people think affect me in this regard."

"So it's really just a matter of privacy then. Which would tell me that you simply need to entertain in tavs and restaurants that are off the beaten path."

When she catches sight of Lando she grabs a peach smoothie from the bar and heads over to take a seat with her friend, "Afternoon Lando." she gives him a peck onthe cheel.

"Tell me, do you have plans for Saturday?"
[ooc: mun notes that he won't plop his pups into the Solo/Fel wedding till Sunday, but Lando dones't know that.]

"And as I barely know Guppy, I will keep that to myself.
"As for eating, however, that is something I can help with." He hands Amanda the invitation. "I think we should just attend the reception, however. I don't think meeting myself at the wedding is the best thing. As much as I know there will be at least one person I admire there."

"Hey you said you knew her. How was I supposed to know that you didn't know she was a vampire." Amanda laughs because she thinks it's funny. Or maybe she is just in a really good mood.
"Thank you." she gives him anotherpeck on the cheek. The same one even.
Amanda laughs again befire reading the invitation, "This is wonderful. What should I wear?" she actually sounds a little distressed.
no subject
"No, you don't have a full wardrobe here.
"But can't the Bar help out? And some of your friends can help, I would guess. Though after you wear their gowns, they will probably be jealous of hwo good you look and never use them again." Always the flirt.

She smiles at the compliment and completely agrees.

"Besides, Jag is not a Jedi but a career military man. That probably alters some of the dress codes." Not that Lando has any idea how Imperial officers or Jedi dress for weddings. (Indeed, as there hasn't been a Jedi wedding since far before Lando's times, he'd had no way of knowing.)

"Well then I suppose I will have to start looking at catalog's. If Ileave it up to Bar she is likely to make me wear the brown dress again." Amanda shudders.

"In my youth, a Corellian wedding party tended to where brighter colors. And as Jaina is half-Corellian, you could find something of that sort.
"But then, in her day fashions might have changed. And it's been a while since I visited Corellia anyway. And never for a wedding."

"And I will add that while I can tell fashion that suits a lady from fashion that does not, I know little about the ns and outs of such things." Lando is not at all embarrassed by this admission.
