(no subject)

There is a Chase, in the bar, with a book that he is only pretending to read.

It's difficult to pay full attention to a book when one is keeping a wary eye and a half out for certain daughters and certain fathers-in-law-to-be that one has to make certain apologies to or risk certain...something.

If your name just happens to be Angela or Jack, you might want to just happen to stop by the booth.

And if your name isn't, you're certainly perfectly welcome to stop by anyway.

"I'm fine," Jack says shortly, not looking up. He knows it's a lie, he knows Chase knows it's a lie, but still, he doesn't really want to say what's really going on. He's not exactly looking forward to hearing all the "I-told-you-so"s.

Unless you've got a time machine handy, no, Jack thinks grimly.

What he says, though, is a somewhat listless, "No, not really." He fiddles with the food on his place for a moment before adding, "I might be heading out of the bar sometime soon."

"I don't know," he says with a shrug. "Few days, I hope."

"You said the other night that you and Kim have made up?" he says after an uncomfortable pause.

"Good. So she's uh...still practicing with her new abilities?" he asks, a little awkwardly. He's not sure how much Kim has told Chase about what happened the other night.
